Scotty Hopson receives NABC All-District honors

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced Wednesday the NABC Division I All-District teams for 2011, recognizing the nation’s best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes. Tennessee junior Scotty Hopson earned second-team All-District 21 honors.

Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the 245 All-District performers (from 24 districts) are now eligible for the State Farm Coaches’ Division I All-America teams, which will be announced April 2 during the NABC Convention in Houston. The 12 SEC schools make up NABC District 21.

Hopson on Tuesday was named a first-team All-SEC performer by the league’s head coaches. The Hopkinsville, Ky., native is Tennessee’s top scorer this season and ranks third in the conference with 19.3 points per game during SEC play. Other honors received this season by Hopson include a pair of SEC Player of the Week distinctions and the NIT Season Tip-Off Most Outstanding Player award.

LOL,and all the VolFans think Hopson isn't NBA material. The same VolFans who ACTUALLY thought Pearl was NBA material (LMFAO!) when Washington needed a coach, think Hopson isn't NBA material. I think it's time the IDIOTS lay off of Hopson. How can the MAJORITY turn a blind eye to Bruce's BS and continue to bash Scotty?

You hit it on the head. Remember, this is the same fan base that thought Foster could not play RB in the NFL. The same fan base that thought the program highs that Fulmer and Delmonico brought us in those sports could be increased upon if they only fire the winningest coaches in school history. That is why this is the dumbest fanbase in America.

Hopson has been playing like NBA material since the start of the SEC season. He has matured and not shown the pouting spells that plagued him in the past. There cannot be a doubt that he has NBA talent but needs to continue to develop his maturity and leadership.

Don't get too caught up in being all District 21 second team. There are 24 districts and 120 first team all district players. So making the second 120 is not a remarkable feat. You would think that Hopson would have been on the 1st team had this UT team finished better than 5th in the SEC East.

Yall are idiots man, there's no way Scotty even sniffs an nba roster. Does anyone even watch basketball? He has NO ball handling skills at all, a horribly inconsistent shot, no defense (but that would actually help him get an nba deal). Tobias yes, Scotty no. He's headed to Turkey.

I stopped projecting who was NBA material in '02. Two words: Tayshaun Prince.

Hopson isn't on many 2011 mock draft boards for a reason. Tobias s as high as 21 to 32 pick depending on which board you look at and he isn't on some boards. It's not physical or lack of skill that hurts Scotty. It's whats between the ears. NBA talent? Yes. High school mentality, unfortunately yes ..

At best Scotty would be a second round pick which in the NBA means zilch, nada, nothing. Unless your a solid first round pick why not stay in school and gain another year of maturity? Scotty needs to get tougher, much tougher, to be able to make an NBA roster. Tobias is a different player, but isn't more skilled or athletic than Scotty. The difference is mentality and toughness. That's the main reason why Tobias is consistently on the boards this year and Scotty isn't. Hopefully Scotty will realize that time is ticking away for him as a "star" at UT and when it's over ... it's over.

Sometimes you're just a little too much, pal, and it's definitely becoming more frequent. So what if the dude didn't spell his name right? You must be incapable of mistakes.

Catscratch? incapable of mistakes? Let's just leave it at incapable...(Hey just kiddin' scratch)...these boards may change some after the Conference and NCAA tourneys.

Hey everbody! Scotty got named 2nd team something! If I was Scotty I'd have something to prove. 2nd team for him or Harris is just saying "ya gotta do better or we ain't gonna notice". For me though I don't see how Scotty could play better the last bunch of games. They did shut him down against Ky. but there are others who didn't show up that game...
Now Harris does seem a little slow on defense at times...might be he's tired from all the double and triple teams he faces. I think actually they're being punished for some other's lack of play on our team...not to mention some hatred out there for any southeast.
