Offensive lineman Kevin Revis to transfer

Roster management season appears to be underway at Tennessee.

According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, reserve offensive lineman Kevin Revis is transferring after two seasons in the program with the Vols.

UT officials have not confirmed a request from the redshirt sophomore, and Revis has not responded to a request for comment from the News Sentinel.

Jason Rhea, the former Rhea County coach who led the program when Revis was a Mr. Tennessee Football Finalist, told the Times Free Press that Revis would be looking at other options.

Revis played in one game in 2010 after redshirting as a true freshman, and he wasn't listed in the UT two-deep at the conclusion of spring practice.

On topic, depth chart "bones" don't lie so he was not heavily in picture. He saw that and decided greener pastures in the neighbors fields I guess.

Sorry to lose anyone at this point but wish him the best. If he comes down UTC way I will see him this fall. I like the Mocs but LOVE THE VOLS! GO BIG ORANGE!

if he's big and fat, they should let him play DT. I'm sure someone thought of that already, though.

Guess this means that most (all?) of the current recruiting class is going to qualify academically and Dooley has to make room for them.

Do we need to close the fb program down? I still think we get 7 or 8 wins, not a bad year considering.

He's a Vanderbilt fan. All he has is finding anything negative, just whatever there could be, that is the slightest setback for UT in the off season - player transfer, injury, stalled car engine on the way to spring practice.

Vanderbilt, they've got nothing else.

Hahahaha silly lady, Vandy doesn't have a football team, therefore people from Vandy have no credibility when talking about football.

It's like taking advice from a ostrich on how to play the stock market.

Geez Louise. You need to get back in the real world. Vandy has football players transfer out for various reasons, just like every other D1-A program does.

Vandy is a terrific school, but it isn't the be all end all.

Check again Mullet hair. I'm sure there have probably been years where Tennessee has had two men's teams in the top five because the swimming and track teams dominated for years.

And it's a real stretch for you to say Vandy's basketball team is in the top five as the 2011-2011 season doesn't start for another six months and nobody's done a preseason poll yet.

As well as the Vandy baseball team has done in the past it has never made it to the CWS.

At the end of the day when you read the history of sports in the SEC Vandy is little more than footnote with a lone national championship in....bowling.

Oh come guys, no need for some of you to take shots at the boy. He is a great kid who grew up dreaming of playing for The Vols. The only problem with that is that he was NEVER UT material. So if you are gonna bash someone, bash Fulmer for giving him a scholly. Matter of fact, I've had enough of the Fulmer bashing as well, so hows bout we just wish Kevin well and move on. HOWEVER, Recruiting guys like this has a good bit to with why we are where we are. Good luck Kevin! I know for a fact that you are a good kid from a good family.

Hey, I've got an idea.

Why don't you try out for the team! You would be an irreplaceable asset for the team's morale with your attitude!

You must not realize what a truly pathetic and absolutely insignificant gnat that you are.

What do you dream about at night? UT!

What do you think about your every waking moment? UT!

I harbor Vandy nor any other SEC school anything but good will and best wishes except when they're playing TN. I wish all of the young student athletes all the best and much success in life.

You on the other hand are as I said pathetic, sad and worthy of nothing but derision. You do have my pity however...I hope you can get over your abnormal obsession (are you a stalker too?) and become a normal human being but I have my doubts that you will achieve this.

You only get one life dude - you're wasting it being a slug.

BINGO! Two names folks had better get used to hearing....Marcus Jackson and Alex Bullard. IF Marcus Jackson doesn't start he will darn near split reps 50/50 with one of the guards, perhaps Schoefield. I'm betting he shocks everyone and starts. Kid will be great and will be a 1st team All American by the time he leaves UT, maybe multiple times. Alex Bullard is capable of playing at least 3-4 positions and other than Dallas Thomas is our most mature lineman mentally. He was slotted as a starter at ND had he not transferred and will start somewhere as well. Our o-line has a chance to be something special in the future. It will be interesting to watch them obliterate Vandy's WEAK defensive front. Hey Vandy chick get ready.

Cantstandsaban, the reason noone leaves Vandy is because most of them wouldn't even start for Rice! You can deny it but you know it's true! Oh by the way, didn't the worst BB team in the BP era beat you twice this year? Haha! GBO!!!

Good grief. They are still allowing the conference welfare recipient fans on here? One would think he would get tired of taking a beating but I guess the world needs masochists.

Vandy needs to be given the Donald Trump treatment: "You're fired!" (From the SEC that is)

volinlouisiana writes:

That's because they didn't go to Vandy to play football. Heck, when they play at home against UT most of the stadium is Orange for crying out loud. I can't believe you actually listed Rogan (grades), Lamaison (hahaha), and Oku (small and slow) to make your case.

Colliervol writes:

On a far more important subject, it was just announced that the USC punishment has been upheld in full by the NCAA. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. They are getting what they asked for by hiring an NCAA pariah (Kiffin).

You mean the Dennis Rogan who ripped Vandy's hearts out in 2007. I can't believe you just threw up Laimason and Stevens.

FWBVol writes:

The fact is that Revis wasn't on the two-deep depth chart coming out of spring practice. This will be his third year in the program and he's still just listed as 6-1, 275.

Revis redshirted in 2009 and got into one game last year. Bullard and Jackson were on campus for spring ball as was Mack Crowder. Plus we have Antonio Richardson, Alan Posey and Kyler Kerbyson that will enroll this summer.

The fact is, contrary to what some trolls say, while are still young on the offensive line, we should be much better up front and the O-line should be one of the strengths of the team.

From everything I've read Revis is a great kid, but he doesn't seem to have the size to play for UT and is probably wise to transfer to a school that will give him a chance to get on the field if that's what he really wants.

Vandy actually did lose a player this year... Need to work on your facts. Jay Fullam who started at safety to begin the season is transfering to the Air Force Academy. That young man is making a wise decision. Not only is he going to play for a winning program, but he is also going to defend our country. GBO

mbain13 writes:

Well, our basketball team beat Vandy twice this year, and made it further in the NCAA tournament than Vandy. And also, baseball, basketball, and football are not the only men's sports in college ya know. Until you have the facts to prove that UT has never had two men's teams in the top 5 then you probably shouldn't say such things. And I'm pretty sure that Vandy has had players transfer. But why would they transfer when a new head coach comes in, when Vandy gets a new head coach the season can't get worse than it was with the previous coach so I wouldn't see why a player would transfer from a terrible team when a new coach comes in and wins no more than 2 more games than the previous coach.
