Anyone know if the Vols are on TV & not pay-for-view. I will never watch on pay-for-view after last week. The sound is horrible & so is the play by play jocks. It was like watching a high school game.

This guy sucks! His preview for the season was awful. I think the national media has no clue that Tennessee is a good football team. In a few weeks I hope we start getting some respect back after we hopefully beat Cincinatti and Florida.

Does else not get why people are saying last game does not bode well for our run-game? From what I understand, Montana's plan was to stuff our run and try to fend off our pass attack. I don't get why people are so nervous about this. To me, it's promising that despite being "shut down" on our run (I wouldn't necessarily call 98 yds from our #1 back shutting us down), our pass made plays. To me, that means we (finally!) have balance. To me, this is a wonderful sign of things to come.

I expect to see an improvement in the run game...
1. Because our o-line has had a game to get its feet under it and should play better against Cinci.
2. Montana really did load the box. And got picked apart because of it through the air. Cinci will have to respect the combo of Bray's arm and our receivers.
3. Austin Peay managed to put 127 yards rushing on Cincinnati. I think it is safe to say that our backs and oline are better than theirs. So we should have a better number than that, which would result in a higher total than in the Montana game as well.

We haven't been Top 25 for awhile. Beat Cincy AND FU and they'll start paying attention.....not before.

Well, unless you have some mathematical theory that we are all unaware of, I believe you have covered it all.

way to go out on a limb there smokey.

Here's your real prediction

UT 34
Cincy 10

Bray throughs for 300+ and 3 TD's

No doubt about this one.

Hey KNS - you got Connecticut's schedule instead of Cincinnati's - way to keep the standards low on the page.

I just posted on another article that UC's corners are 5-9, 195 ands 5-11, 179. They'll be covering Rogers and Hunter at 6'-3" each. Can you say toast? LOL
I suspect Bray might pass for 400 yards before his arm gets tired.

the fact that you "hope" we beat Cincinatti should tell you exactly how good this team is.

Yikes -- there was an errant link in there. We have fixed it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Why would you say Cinn has a suspect defense with 11 returning starters that allowed over 40 points only once last year. Cinn was number 119 in turnovers and left their defense in bad situations, but they did very well like allowing Oklahoma only 31 points in a 2 point loss. I'm not saying Cinn will win, but their defense is far from suspect. They held Pitt to only 24 points also and now they have all 11 players with another year of experience. Plus there best corner is back after missing most of last year.

I understand what you are saying Smokey. As for the ones who downed you for your post, don't sweat it. The same punks with negativity towards others all the time are the same ones who never bring decent info to the site, NEVER EVER.

I mentioned once before that often when 2 high power offenses like this meet, it often ends up a low scoring 24-21 type of game. Seeing that the over/under has taken such a drastic drop, this is quite possible. However, right or wrong, I'm stcking with my original pick. 38-35 UT in an instant ESPN classic.

HOWEVER, the best defense we can have is a stout running game and playing ball control football, chewing clock. That will keep their offense on the sidelines. AP running for a fair chunk of yardage against Cinnci is a good sign for us. Their front 7 is supposed to be pretty good. Their secondary is the weaker unit on their D. If we can run the ball then they are in trouble. But if we can run the ball it will result in a much lower scoring game IMO. Should be a good one.

Plus until UT proves they win by running the ball, expect alot of Nickel and over the top zones to stop the big plays on offense for the Vols. That will also keep scoring down. It does not take a brain surgeon to look at Tennessee and say " if you can beat us running the ball, then that will have to be proved". I wouldn't expect to see wide open deep balls like last week. Also UT has allowed 44 sacks in just over a year (3 vs Montana) so expect Bray to see tons of pressure. This is what Vegas sees and why the total is dropping.

Several problems with your argument. First of all, a suspect defense that allowed over 40 points only once last year. What game was that? I see no teams that scored over 40 points on them. Secondly, I do see 7 games where they allowed over 30 points, which I would consider a suspect defense. Thirdly, Pitt scored 28, not 24 on them. If you are gonna make an argument, at least get the facts straight first.

I agree with you Rich. Running the ball will be a great defense. Keep their dual-threat QB sitting and he can't score. I believe that IF we can run the ball, we win by 10+. IF not, we still win, but a much closer ball game.

I watched a PPV back in 2006 told myself then never again then setteled for Bob K's radio show or ESPN 3 or somthing. PPV is over priced, low quality and just not worth it. OH there on ESPN 2 at 2:30.

This is the kind of game we need to get ready for Florida.

Vols: 31
Cincinnati: 28

I think we'll take control of the game - but the lack of a consistent ground game will keep us from closing it out early - The Meerkats will score a late one to make this look close.
