Top catcher prospect David Houser commits to Vols

One of the nation's top catcher prospects has committed to play baseball at Tennessee.

David Houser of Columbia, S.C., is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound switch-hitter from A.C. Flora High School.

The commitment was first reported by GVX247.com.

Houser is considered one of the best catching prospects in the class of 2012, according to several baseball websites. If that's the case, he will likely be drafted high and have to turn down big money to enroll in college.

Tennessee has already notched a number of recruiting successes under new coach Dave Serrano and his staff for the Class of 2012.

And in such short order... impressive indeed!

THe question here of many really is why does this article, brief though, say nothing about the Gamecocks and Coach Tanner being a player etc? I mean that is his back yard and B-t-b national champions ? My answer is probably won't atend college and they knew that from conversations maybe? Doesn't matter to me since he went right to the SEC leading besbol home and got one whether it sticks or not.

there could be several reasons why he chose UT over SC: he wants to play away from home, Dave Serrano, playing time, wants to help rebuild a program, or maybe he loves the Vols.

By the way, do a little proof reading before you post.

Time for self reprimand! Sorry SummittsCourt as I got my train rolling and should never have let it leave the station. Thanks for your help for my future postings....

The beauty of it all is we have a baseball coach finally. Todd Raleigh was worse than the average guy coaching $10 trophy tournaments at Knox SportsPark. Serrano has credentials and should be able to get us back to where we need to be.

After the last few years with raleigh, UT is that many years behind. Glad to see Serrano in town.Just wish it would had been sooner.

No offense but its acutally hard to read your post....just no flow to your thought process and verbage usage is atrocious. Otherwise, good post.

I have not posted any thing much on the baseball Vols just been reading mostly ,but this fluw of good players UT has been getting this year tells me something. There are guys out there that are Vols at heart but have not liked the past staffs. USC your days at top of SEC east are #'ed.

The truth be known I am actually an insider told to post with a plethora of miscues both grammatically syntax and all. The question is how many boo boo's did this one have?

I guess I fall on the side of vol4gzus. I say I guess, because his post is hard to read and digest because of all the typos. But I agree with his premise - why in the world is SC not all over this guy if he is as good as advertised? Especially, since he is a Columbia native.

I understand all the many reasons why an out-of-state recruit might not want to go to the state school, but common' man, we're talking about SC, the defending B2B National Champions with one of the greatest college coaches in the country. Can it really be that bad that he doesn't want to go there?

Ya know I didn't take the time to check the current roster for catchers. Memory is a bit shaky and thinking current was an underclassman. So current roster ans signees may have spelled out go elsewhere as his position is full. Sorry, but I like to have fun with my meanderings at times and don't intend to cause consternation to the readers.

Give the man a cigar!

The position is crowded right now but Holbrook could have done more to keep him instate at an earlier time. He's the top 2012 cather in SC right now and plays for a national powerhouse travel team in the Canes. Funny thing is that we usually pick the Canes clean every year. Who knows how the draft will go. He'll be in there but will the money be good enough? I have a feeling we'll be running into him at the dish. Good luck.

Englewood as in California? My posts might seem more readable in the daylight hours as opposed to Wilson Pickett time of 12:49am. That being said sometimes we go deep in the blogosphere and it requires all the synapses firing together to clarify what the reader sees. Did I give you the wiggle room needed to keep investing for the height of all enterprise.....The Worm Store ????

For quite a while You've been posting under that same moniker. It's bad enough that you display our Savior's name in such a blatantly blasphemous manner.....as is often also placed on license plates, baseball caps, tee shirts, etc., etc., etc. If you knew Him, you would realize this. Additionally, your licentiously pompous implications of superiority are a far cry from one who purports to be an ambassador for Christ..........no observable humility here. I'm not interested in what you have to say but I am asking you to change your moniker for this site.
