Darin Hinshaw to earn $225,000 this season

Darin Hinshaw has a new position to coach and additional responsibilities as a recruiting coordinator.

The Tennessee wide receivers coach also has a new contract and more money coming in as he prepares for his third season with the program.

According to an employment agreement obtained by the News Sentinel through a public records request, Hinshaw signed a two-year deal last month to continue working with the Vols that will pay him a base salary of $225,000 this season — a raise of $75,000 from his previous contract. He is slated for another bump in the 2013 campaign, when he is scheduled to make $250,000.

Along with offensive coordinator Jim Chaney, Hinshaw is one of just two UT assistants remaining from coach Derek Dooley's first staff with the program.

Hinshaw's promotion to recruiting coordinator follows the departure of Terry Joseph for a position on the coaching staff at Nebraska, and he's also replacing Charlie Baggett in leading the wide receivers after the parting of ways between UT and the assistant in December.

Hinshaw is probably the best recruiter on the staff. Good investment.

A very smart move by CDD to keep a very good coach and recruiter in the fold.

I expect that he'll do a great job as RC too since he has the great ability to recruit and will make a very good 1st impression on all the kids and their families while setting up meetings for the other coaches to meet the kids in the positions they'll coach.

The incentive bonus program that CDD put in place is also outstanding and straightforward.

Now every coach/recruiter knows exactly how much extra $$$ they can earn based on the success they help the team earn and there's nothing to guess about at all based on end of season results.

This is another really great step in the CDD rebuilding program and we're starting to see more of why A D Hart really likes what CDD is doing and what CDD has planned for the future as the rebuilding plan keeps moving forward.
