Oklahoma State suspends former Vol Phillip Jurick

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State senior center Phillip Jurick has been suspended indefinitely after he pleaded not guilty to charges that he possessed marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Jurick signed with Tennessee out of East Ridge High School in Chattanooga. The 6-foot-11 Jurick never played for the Vols. He was redshirted in the 2008-09 season. Former UT coach Bruce Pearl refused to grant Jurick his release and he signed with Chattanooga State where he played two seasons.

Coach Travis Ford announced Tuesday that Jurick will not travel with the Cowboys on their upcoming foreign tour in Spain and that a final decision on his status will be made when more information is obtained.

Jurick was charged Monday with counts of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges Monday, and he was scheduled to appear again in court on Aug. 20.

Jurick played in 27 games and started 16 for Oklahoma State last season before injuries ended his season. He averaged 1.6 points and 4.9 rebounds.

Hold on, let me get my calculator out and do some math.

Let's see...add the two....subtract four...carry the one...and divide by the square root of Dooley's wins over ranked teams. Does anyone know what the square root of zero is? No. It's ok I'll just round up....and then we come to our conclusion.

According to my math, the statistical probability that Dooley assassinated JFK is roughly equivalent to the probability that he will beat Bama while coaching football.

The US's stance on marijuana is ridiculous. You can't even OD on it. Alcohol ruins lives and kills millions but it is socially acceptable. Makes no sense.

So your standard is whether or not you can OD on something? That about right?

Just goes to show you that it is not always the programs fault, these kids look up to their peers and think that it is cool and they get by with it. Sad, sad world.

Couldn't be Dooley's fault. Any right thinking person would know it was Todd Raleigh's fault.

Although I agree with your first two sentences, I respectfully disagree with the last the last two.

Name one bottle of bourbon that has ever been convicted of murder.

It's like blaming gambling, guns, alcohol, etc. People want to blame vices and not themselves.

The bottom line is "people" do these things... not the things they turn into their vices.
