Not many honors were garnered by Tennessee's defense this season, but safety LaDarrell McNeil broke through on Thursday.
McNeil was UT's only representative on the SEC All-Freshman team voted by the league coaches.
Heisman Trophy favorite Johnny Manziel, the Texas A&M quarterback, was one of three Aggies on the All-Freshman team.
Alabama and Florida had four selections. South Carolina and Arkansas had three.
McNeil earned a starting job for the Vols in early October and was in on 55 tackles over the final nine games. He had 10 tackles twice, against Kentucky and Troy.
Todd Gurley of Georgia and T.J. Yeldon of Alabama were the running backs.
Former Tennessee commitment Otha Peters of Arkansas was picked at linebacker.

Congrats, LaDarrell!
Wouldn't surprise me if more Freshman honors were bestowed in short order.

Wow, any article that provides an opportunity to trash either Dooley or Fulmer gets flooded with posts/comments. However, this article that provides an opportunity to congratulate a young ball player and...nothing.
Congrats young man!! Keep up the good work, ignore the culture of negativity, and build for next year!

I hope McNeil and Randolph give us one of the strongest safety tandems in the SEC next year.

That is a great honor, especially with the defense this year, with is not ALL on the players. We do have players on defense and with the right Defensive coach you will be good next year.
