After posting a pair of double-doubles, Tennessee's Bashaara Graves was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday.
The 6-foot-2 forward scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 75-40 victory over Davidson last Friday. She followed up with 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in Sunday's 66-47 victory over Rutgers. She now is tied for the conference lead with six double-doubles for the season.
For the week, Graves shot 50 percent from the floor (9 for 18) and 90 percent (9 for 10) from the free throw line.
For the season, Graves has scored in double figures in 11 of 12 games.

Congrats to Graves, a well deserved honor.

Graves is a grown woman. She wants it now not in the future.

This girl is the real deal. She is Glory Johnson with a shot and some finesse.

A good chance Tenn will end up with freshman POY. She can be the difference in the SC game.
Even playing in a hostile place against a good SC team, I expect the Vols to win this week. The only reason they could lose is if they fail to continue the same tremendous defensive effort they had against Rutgers. Of course, I'm assuming they will keep up their self confidence.

Proud to have two Clarksville girls playing for the LADY VOLS. BASH and KAMIKO. Cant wait for JALON REEVES MAYBIN to join the football team.

SHE is your future. She's a glory johnson but with control.

Have all noticed there are many fewer complaints about missed layups this year? Add a little more experience and a couple more inches coming in next year and we are looking at a lot of big wins!

Yep, and not so many missed free throws and fewer turnovers despite playing faster. These are definate postives and indication of good coaching and focus.

This team is only going to get better and Graves and Harrison arethe anchors . I wish the they were 6'4 but they have the fitness and the board play to play against anyone in the SEC right now. The Vols will probably see the top 5 teams in the SEC early with USC and UGA . Another big test for our ladies.

@max
they don't need to be 6-4, they just need to box out, set screens, and keep moving. A decent hook-shot negates defensive size, anyway, and you see posts all over the country including Griner have that in their skill set.
I'm impressed with Graves, she's aggressive with her offense.

A hookshot is not hard for someone that is 6'8 or better with an arm reach that is about a foot from the rim. All they have to do is turn and toss sorta how Kareem use to back in the day. It takes a little bit for someone that is 6'2 -6'3 because they are still looking at a rim a little more than someone like Griner.
