I think it's just hunky-dory, just like these stupid polls.
grandtad#1402265 writes:
According to whose standards? If it's UT's standards from years past, it's below average! I think they did pretty good but I'm only a spectator and hopeful Vol fan!
MerlotGoVols writes:
It is below average like our coach, also likely the best class we will have with Dooleave as coach.
Pullingguard writes:
One has to wonder how all these posters, or most of them are experts and Dooley is a nobody coach..Give him a chance and after the 2012 season is completed then judge him for at that time he will have been here 3 years...Next year just may surprise lot of people for the good.
Orangeblood13 writes:
It's a better poll to bring out the dumb*** posters for sure

I cant say that I am CDD fan. I do think that he is on the right track. He will be the right guy until the right guy gets here. When that will be who knows. These idiots that continue to call for his head are part of the reason we are in this position to start with. They are never happy with anything nor will they be happy with anyone. GET SOME ROPE AND HANG YOURSELVES..YOU LIVE A SORRY LIFE! What he was able to do with all the coaching changes and the KY fall out I think is maybe the best job of anyone in the country. We should be very good on O this season and the DT'S we got will allow LB'S to run free and make plays. I think 9 with a chance to win 10 in a bowl. If we are not in every game this year he could have a real problem...but lets wait and see. No matter if you want to or not unless you take my advise about the rope...your gonna have to.! GO VOLS!!!
wigmeister writes:
Agree. We have a good signing class. Gets better every year. A foundation is being laid. You can't rebuild a disaster in one to three years. It is happening. It will take time.
Vol43 writes:
I especially liked the part "He will be the right guy until the right guy gets here." Good job. Who knows, he could be that guy.
OwensboroVol writes:
It is good enough that with some lucky breaks the Vols may be able to win some tough games (ones in which they are not expected to win) that will enable them to have improved recruiting classes in the next 1-3 years. They should be able to utilize the junior college receiver with Da Rick Rogers and Justin Hunter to create a very potent air game. I would have like to have seen some real defensive hunks, but that wasn't to be. Everything considered, I am still looking forward to the upcoming season and believe it is the one where Tennessee Football will start heading back to the position when it dominated the SEC east.
orangecountyvols writes:
Vols,
The class appears to be okay.
The troll-poll is still showing the Merlot troll
and Grantland-stale beans troll as leaders in their category.
CarlChilders writes:
It will unfold with time. The fact is, UT has logged more playing time with underclassmen on the field than anyone else in the SEC. May I add fewer graduations than anyone else (uh, let's make that seniors). If you've followed the game for awhile, you know how things can turn from one year until the next.

Supersayin1 writes:
This is the same team that was literally in almost every game this year throughout the first half.. even against the National champion Crimson tide, and the only reason they couldn't stay in these games aside from injuries to key players was dept.
Now if experts saying now that UT has dept they believe they can compete, I don't honestly know what you people who are hating are smoking!
It's crazy that people back in my hometown of Alabama are the main ones saying they see UT turning the table, and are bracing for the true rivalry to return. Yes i'm form Birmingham Alabama, and mostly it's Tides fans that are telling me they see in Tennessee the same thing they saw in their team, and are saying UT is coming back (UNDER DOOLEY)!!!! UT is coming back GO VOLS!!! When I say Tide fans I mean the actual rational tide fans, that understand football and the spirit of the rivalry!
ClemCash writes:
I voted average. I love what we did at WR, but that's about the only above average area. And getting 0 o-linemen was ignorant, regardless of what you think the current depth chart looks like.
Noogaorange writes:
Hope the Tide fans are right! Not too sure myself but hopeful. GBO
dgcarter43 writes:
It is an o.k. class that had on opportunity to be a very good class. I see the gamble asking Khalid Henderson and Imani Cross to look elsewhere having backfired. With those two, the class would have been somewhere around 11-12. Some needs were met but linebacker wasn't.
ClemCash writes:
We were 5-7 last year, 6-7 the year before that. Dooley better have a winning record THIS year or his butt is a goner, regardless of what people in B-ham think. Time to put up or shut up, Dooley.
SevenT writes:
Much weaker than ANY class Fulmer signed.
FanNotSheep writes:
Possibly. But Fulmer didn't have any classes where 75 percent of his assistant coaches left during recruiting season. I'm willing to give Dooley another season with a relatively full roster to see what he can do with it. No matter what people say on this site, I believe he is giving it everything he has, and that is all you can ask. If it proves out that UT hired the wrong guy, well that was UT's fault right? I see no reason for all the hate aimed at Dooley.
volforeverandever writes:
Thats a stupid comment.Fulmers last class ranked 35th in the country and was horrible.Over half of that class never even saw the field. That class is one of the reasons we had no depth. And by the way that class furnished a grand total two starters in their senior season.
Rich_Is_Re-born writes:
Pretty darn good considering we endured an NCAA investigation, 6 coaching changes, and a losing season. I do think we missed on a few needs, but that's just how it goes sometimes.
Ayres_Hall writes:
The DL and WR haul was superb. DBs and QB very good. LB and RB okay. OL dissapointing but not a disaster.
Overall, it could have been much worse considering the past three years of woes. But we filled some critical needs with high quality players and now have some depth.
Still, another year behind our rivals.
How does a guy like Grantlands look in the mirror and call himself a fan/supporter.
ClemCash writes:
In other words, average.
TheFuj writes:
Maybe I can see it, but the Ky game still gets me. Only 1 game, but was a summation. With the long win streak on the line, and with a bowl game on the line, and with Ky team that cannot pass the ball to beat us was just HORRIBLE.
All other SEC schools say the same thing--that we are turning the corner. I live in SC and they say it. Ga fans say it. Everybody says it except Vandy. Almost like they want Dooley to stay more than many TN fans??
UTKin1992 writes:
A very average class for most, a sub-par class for Tennessee. There should have been contingency plans in the event of signing day defections, and amazingly there weren't. Amazing yes, surprising no.

Lane_Kiffins_Daddy_Wears_Diapers writes:
Based on a compilation of the analysis from several recruiting services, this is a middle of the road SEC class. Therefore, I voted average. Anyone who thinks its a great class needs to put down the Dool-aid. Anyone who thinks its a bad class (talking to you Jeff), needs to put down the Hater-ade

Whose gonna coach these guys up? Our lawyer disguised as a head coach(who has never beat a ranked team and also is 0 and 14 tied or trailing at half, sad), the db coach who never played the game or the coach we snagged from the powerhouse that is the MTSU blue raiders. (He was at wisconsin but was demoted to mtsu smh)

damned few of us want ole u.t. to ever lose. we just realize that keeping a sub .500 coach from the bush league handpicked by an a.d. who was the gold standard for incompetence is the quickest way to make that a way of life.

I think you comment "we just realize" is really "we assume". I believe next year will be better!
chrisvol4ut writes:
Average recruiting class on par with our average recruiting classes the past 5 years and below average play on the field and bottom of the barrel coaching. Should have fired Dooley after that Kentucky embarrassment or at least backed the bowl money he cost the university out of his pay. He probably blew it on purpose so the University wouldn't have as much money to front for his buyout. Now we have to go through another 5 or 6 win season and prolong our return to glory at least one more year. Did I hear a few people say that we were competitive in the first half of every game? Last time I checked the final score was all that mattered. And I'm sure the vanilla offense that LSU and Alabama played against us in the first half had nothing to do with the fact that the score was close through 2 quarters right? Give me a break. Y'all keep rallying behind Hamilton's boy (7th choice). If it weren't for Fulmer's huge buyout we would have never been saddled with Dooley to begin with because we could have paid a real coach.
Lane_Kiffins_Daddy_Wears_Diapers writes:
Just a couple of comments:
1. UT would have made little or no money going to the Music City Bowl or Liberty Bowl if they had beat UK. Once you factor in travel expenses and revenue sharing, you don't make any money on lower-tier bowls. For example, UGA lost money going to the Liberty Bowl (mostly due to the fact that they were not even close to selling their guaranteed allotment of tickets).
2. UT did not hire Dooley because of Fulmer's buyout but because Hamilton was cheap. You factor in the fact that Dooley kept (or was forced into keeping) all the coaches that did not go to USC (other than Kiffin's brother in law) and that was gravy on the top for Hamilton (no buyouts). As big as Fulmer's buyout was, it's still only 5% of the annual revenues generated by the athletic department.
But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your rant.
TheFuj writes:
Fact correct on losing money going to Music City Bowl or Liberty Bowl, but not going to any bowl basically says your program not top of 70 other football programs. Not necessarily true, but definitely appears that way when one does not make 1 of the 35 bowls.
oldster writes:
UT signed a solid class and filled many needs and the two most glaring areas of deficiency in quality and quantity: DLine and Dbacks. They came up short with LBs and a stud rb, but the former may be made up by turning some former Dlinemen into LBs (e.g. Jacques Smith and maybe Willie Bohannon). The latter may well be covered up by what may well be the best receiver recruiting class in the country and, possibly, the best group of receivers in the SEC (read 50+ passes per game). In any event, what Dooley has done to date with recruiting seems to provide a good foundation. Next they need to be coached up to provide a sufficient level of success so that the studs and stars will want to come here (no more B.Browns, B. Dardens, J. Jacksons, or N. Richardsons, or Michael Palardys please).

decent class,I am a vol fan CDD is doing a good job. All you air heads out there, no other coach could have came in and done a better job. our program was broke from not having experience on the roster with no depth. the program now has a solid foundation with an experience OL and top WR on the field. I think having a proven RB and coach in Jay Graham will improve our ground game and having a new DC whose in his first yr as a DC coach will mean he will be here for a few yrs. I think CDD was going to let Wilcox go after the Ky game. our schedule this year is tough but I see us winning 7 to 9 games and all of them being tight. I just bray learns to read Defenses

Yeah me too!! The ones i talk to on a regular hapen to family some friends, and guys that are pretty cool despite the colors they wear. They love their team but love to talk football about the SEC year round. They are looking forward to the rivalry coming back, and as one guy put it; theres a sleeping dragon in knoxville, and this may be the year they shock some people. But they see in UT exactly what they saw their team go through. Even my Florida buddy's here where i've lived for the past 3 years in South Florida says that UT looks like they will be a much better team. This talk is all off the SEC team Hatred record from them LOL!!!!
GO VOLS!!

I agree!! Dooley has to do something big with this shot he has. The schedule is like UGA's a bit favorable with some games that can go either way. GBO!!
