Former Tennessee quarterback and current coach Tee Martin greets Tennessee defensive back Brent Brewer at the conclusion Tennessee's 24-14 win Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 in Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.

— New USC receivers coach Tee Martin and the man who hired him, Lane Kiffin, both laughed when asked about comments Martin made two years ago after Kiffin bolted from Tennessee to USC.

Kiffin’s exit, after only 14 months in Knoxville, Tenn., sent Volunteers alums and fans into an uproar.

Martin, the quarterback for Tennessee’s 1998 national championship team, told the Sporting News at the time that he was “embarrassed by the timing of it all” and that Kiffin “wanted everyone to buy into what he was selling, and then he left after one year.”

Kiffin said this week that he was unaware of Martin’s comments until Martin brought them up during a daylong interview on campus on Feb. 13.

I love watching UT fans laugh at Vandy who had a Final Four team last year in the Big Three mens Sports..They also had more wins in Basketball and baseball and had a total of 80 wins to Ut's putrid 56. Vandy was second only to Florida in total wins. This year Vandy will have more wins in all three Big mens sports, a Bowl game and an NCAA Tourney Bid. UT had no Bowl, will be lucky to see the NIT, and will never match vandy in Baseball wins. For two straight years Vandy will be 'The University of Tennessee". Hey UT sunk their own ship, don't blame the messanger. Enjoy watching the Big Dance while sitting home, just like Bowl Season. Vandy fans will enjoy having a team in both. Ut needs to join the WAC!! Hilarious. Isnt that right Gilbert

Everybody that has ever coached a football team has probably had a team with too many men on the field. It even happened to both teams in the Super Bowl this year. I guess that means two coaches that have won multiple championships are incompetent.

UT isn't the only school to have significant turnover on the coaching staff this year. And the last I checked Jay Graham has never had any ties to Nick Saban. In fact, other than Derek Dooley, there are now only two coaches on the staff that previously worked for Nick.

Get the facts straight before you start spouting off showing that you really are handicapped.

And right now Vandy has more things to worry about like the charges Maryland is making against Franklin for tampering with players.

Tee is just doing what Kiffin did to UT. Using him as a stepping stone for his career. And it was a GREAT career choice for Tee. I never bought in to Kiffin bull and didnt sell myself out to defend all the bad stuff he did or said like most fans so I dont have as much animosity towards him then others I guess. I wasnt delusioned enough to think that him and his crooked staff would have any loyalty to UT and turn UT back into a contender. Kiffin did what was best for himself and so is Tee. Maybe he can get some great experience and bring it back to UT.

Ok...here we go and you can dispute this if you want, but its in the record books.....Since Vandy is sooo much better to you than Tennessee in the "Big Three" as you call them, let me give you a run down:

Tennessee:
Football - 794W 349L 52T ...6 National Championships and 38 Consensus All-America's
Basketball - 1490W 945L ... 19 NCAA Tourney's and 11 NIT's
Baseball - 1819W 1381L 14T .... 4 CWS

The School in Nashville:
Football - 564W 574L 50T ..... 6 Consensus All-America's
Basketball - 1490W 1043L .... 13 NCAA Tourney's and 11 NIT's
Baseball - 1790W 1548L 23T .... 1 CWS

So you tell me...

One of the many reasons Chuck Smith got fired was because he put the 12th and 13th men on the field.

FanNotSheep writes:

Kiffin and his entourage are really good recruiters. Once you get a roster full of future NFL stars, coaching is pretty easy. But LI'l Lame thinks everything is a big joke. From all reports he cheated on his beautiful young wife every chance he got and he obviously feels no loyalty to anyone. So he left for his dream job and good for him.

It wasn't just Kiffin that destroyed the UT football program but he sure did his part. Of course he built it up while he was here; that's what they do. They recruit relentlessly and get every 4- and 5-star player they can. But when he left so quickly the program was in shreds. You can't lose two coaches in 12 months and have any other result.

Kiffin came in and cleaned house. When he left, he and his pet Cajun bulldog took as many recruits as they could, and most of the rest of them left or got kicked off the team. So Dooley gets stuck with 60 scholarship players in the SEC, and everybody bails on him when for some reason that isn't good enough to beat 'Bama.

Now Li'l Lame and the gang have a two-deep roster of 5-stars in sunny SoCal so they will never feel any ill effects from the NCAA penalties. Who cares if you have 75 scholarships if they're all blue-chip athletes? Who cares if you miss a couple bowl games when your fans already live in Cali?

So the program he left behind looks like it got bombed by the NCAA when in fact it's just collateral damage in Li'l Lame's big dream. So keep laughing L. K. Someday karma will catch up to you. Maybe you'll come home and find your pretty blonde wife in bed with your Cajun cohort. Now that would be funny!

He has to change the situation in Knoxville from total Chaos to a winning program or get fired. If he is fired, it may be a while before another opportunity for a Division 1 Head Coaching job at a Major School comes along, if ever. I'm sure he wants coaches he can trust to do things his way.
