Drae Bowles ready to sign with Tennessee

Jackson Christian School senior Drae Bowles has embraced the attention placed on him as a top college football recruit as a chance to share his faith.

"I feel my ability to do anything, whether it's on the football field or not, is a gift from God, and I think it's my job to give that gift back to him by using it for his glory," Bowles said.

In July, Bowles committed to play for Tennessee, and he will sign his letter of intent Wednesday. JCS head coach Matt Underwood said the Vols are getting a one-of-a-kind individual who should be an asset on their roster in the coming seasons.

Maybe Bowler can be the witness the Vols need, then once the Vols learn of true love and faith under our LORD, this will help them play more like a leam with heart. Salvation is more important but playing as a family will help the Vols play with more heart.

With all due respect to volman2010 that was a funny question! I'm not sure but I don't think he meant football recruiting.
Volman=The 1000year reign most theologians believe will be after the rapture of "those who are alive and remain in Christ Jesus." If He returns this year I'm not gonna worry about any recruits or anything else. I'll be gone in "the blink of an eye". Where we're going there will only be "blue chip recruits". Amen preach it brother.

Amen Brother,I figure we will get some grief for this but,I am looking for that coming, any day now. I'm a CDD supporter, but wonder how he stands. After one of the games on tv the team was in prayer circle on field,he was heading for the locker room..Just wondered.

Sounds like a good young man who will be an asset to the team and the university. However, since I don't follow recruiting quite as avidly as some, I confess I had never heard of the guy until this article, so I guess I was a LITTLE puzzled that I saw no hint of how big or fast he is, how highly-rated he is, or even what position he plays. Perhaps someone will enlighten me.

No he isn't. He is telling you however that Jesus died on a cross so that you can live.Christ must be accepted by faith. You can not get to Heaven by works. You can only get there by the Blood of Jesus.

We need your help and of course the Lord's as well.

Not opposed to Bible Thumping since I am a preacher myself but the statements made on this story are rather bizzare and not Bible based, just strange. It is not theologians that teach a rapture and a literal thousand year reign that begins 2,000 years after Jesus was here, just some fringe elements that see a booger man behind every tree stump and ignore 2,000 years of history and think that everything in the Bible revolves around today and that it didnt matter or apply to all who have gone on before us

Dalton Santos is still committed to TENNESSEE he is having a hard time deciding where he wants to go it has always been his dream to play at texas just the the way Drae has always dreamed of playing here no matter what he decides we should all wish him well but signs are pointing to him sticking with Tennessee per his family even though they are lobbying for him to stay in Texas

Well, with Santos to Texas, Dooley is going to have to pull some major suprises out of his rear to land a top 20 class.

We can all lie to ourselves but UT has gone so far down hill.

Ten, even five years ago UT would NEVER have ha so many coaches and recruits/players jumping ship.

Defense is the major concern for UT especially D-Line and I am seeing no instant impact recruits. Of course someone may step up but Dooley is not bringing in the level of recruits to get UT back on track.

Kool-Aid drinkers can tell themselves that recruiting is doing just fine but with what one ESPN150 recruit and zero five star ecruits UT is falling more and more behind the big boys. "stars dont matter", yeah.. how many does Bama and LSU have? Some dont pan out but if you want 3 stars over five stars then you will also accept 5 wins a year.

As always, I hope I am wrong but Dooley is failing on the one posotive his fans bring to his defense "recruiting".

This story is about an awesome player(4*)with a strong faith in Christ and you have the audacity to talk about Dooley failing in recruiting? To be anywhere near the top 10 in recruiting with our record over the past 2 seasons proves Dooley CAN recruit and that you are clueless!Coaches and players leave programs everyday even from championship teams, please check your stats, put on an orange shirt, and watch our Vols go off this year. As I have been saying in other posts, Dooley is building a team with solid foundations. High Character, and smart and wont cause academic or disciplinary issues.

Yes I am a Christan and I am proud that this young man has strong faith and motivates everyone around him both individually and spirituality.

Regardless of your faith you have to admire this young man, if you really read the article is is doing everything he can to make the world around him a better place, and spending time helping youth.

Even if he never plays a down for the Vols, he is a great asset to the School.

I think he will be a starter in a couple of years but regardless he is the model of what our kids should be.

Thank you for your commitment

I'm proud of Curt and AJ but they aren't 250lb Beast like Santos who was only a incoming freshmen.

Sorry I had to vent just sick of us losing beast like players!! GO VOLS!

AJ played at 245 this year and Curt started the year at 235. Santos is listed at 240 on ESPN. I think we'll be ok at LB for a few years. But I would have liked to have Santos as well. It's all part of the game. Win some, lose some.

TheVolSnake writes:

On Santos this kid will do well in Texas and I wish him the best. I couldn't understand the dramatic differences in the ratings on this player some sites had him as a 4 star and some down to 2. most ratings on player may have a 1 star difference. nearly every site had different weakness on him, so for me he was a very hard player to get a read on.

But I think overall we will be fine without him. we have two freshman that started last year and returning personnel that were injured last year so we will be fine.

A.J. Johnson
6'3" 245lbs.

Come on dude. He will be twice the linebacker Santos will be. Same with Curt.

Bummer we lost Santos, but don't start acting nuts.

Sorry if I sound like a downer with my post guys, but I've seen our LB's and they aren't what they used to be. Tennessee's Defense used to spark fear in teams because we had Monsters from the line to our LB's.
Now it's been guys who have had to rely on technique rather than brute, horrifying, natural ability. I simply want that back at UT ( The real UT).

We should not recruit any LB's under 235 lbs, mainly because our LB's get blocked out of the picture alot. Think about it if that was Al Wilson in the game against LSU instead of Nick Revies there to make the tackle on LSU's RB.

Yes Revies has heart but he wasnt a force simply just a guy with Heart and good tecnique which only took him so far.

Santos is the kind of guy that would have flattened LSU's RB on that last play. I'm not down playing our team, but i'm sure i'm not the only VOL who wants Monsters on our defense. GO VOLS!

On depth we have counting the commitments have 16 on the roster. 2 of the 16 are commitments.

3 X 4 Stars: 8 X 3 star: 1 X 2 star and 4 X 1 Star.

But don't get wrapped around the stars because one of our best that was injured last year (Lathers) was rated as a 1 star.
