Tennessee has lost at least one signee to the Major League baseball draft.
Adam Giacalone of Neosho County Community College signed Thursday with the Milwaukee Brewers, according to UT coach Dave Serrano.
Giacalone was a pitcher and first baseman from Shawnee Mission, Kan. He was picked in the 16th round by the Brewers and reportedly received a $100,000 signing bonus.
Tyler Smith, another junior college pitcher, was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 19th round.
Three high school signees — A.J. Simcox, Vincent Jackson and Vance Vizcaino — were drafted in later rounds.
Draftees have until July 13 to either sign or return to school.

Can't fault someone for pursuing their dreams. Any player you get from the Juco ranks is a real high risk to turn pro if they are drafted anywhere in the top 25 five.

Can someone explain to me how a kid can receive an NCAA scholarship offer all the while retaining a sports agent and declaring for a professional sports draft? Why is baseball so fundamentally different than basketball and football?
Ironcity writes:
They call the agents advisers. As to the difference you make a valid point.
