Tyler Fenwick is the second former graduate assistant coach in the past week hired to the Tennessee swimming staff.
Fenwick joins Ashley Jahn, who was announced last Wednesday as an addition to the staff of coach Matt Kredich as the men's and women's programs merge.
Fenwick, a graduate assistant at UT from 2007-09, spent the past three years as men's national team coach for the Mission Viejo Natadores, a premier swim club in California.
"When this job opened up, my first thought was, 'It's time for Tyler Fenwick to come home to Knoxville,' " Kredich said in a UT news release.
"In the last three years Tyler has been one of the most productive senior-level coaches in the country. He has demonstrated a powerful understanding of how to develop swimmers and how to prepare them for international competition.
"He's clearly shown his expertise, particularly when it comes to distance swimming.''
Fenwick is a native of Philadelphia and competed for William & Mary.
At UT he worked with the Lady Vols and also trained swimmers with the Tennessee Masters program, Tennessee Aquatics and Pilot Aquatic Club.
Fenwick and Jahn join Bret Luundgard and diving coach Dave Parrington on Kredich's first combined staff.
Fenwick will be at work on campus early next month following the U.S. Olympic Trials.
