Bud Ford, who publicized University of Tennessee sports for 45 years, has been honored again by his professional peers.
Ford, who retired from UT at the end of 2011, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from CoSIDA at the group's convention Tuesday in St. Louis. CoSIDA is the organization of college sports information directors.
Ford was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame in 2001 and received the group's Arch Ward honor in 2006.
"Bud Ford loves Tennessee with a passion that shows through in the way he does his job,'' said former UT football coach Phillip Fulmer.
Added former coach Johnny Majors, "Bud Ford is one of the most valuable people to an athletics department I have ever known.''
Ford is seeking a settlement of $40,000 from UT, saying a one-year agreement to serve as historian was not honored.
Painter Awards: John Painter won CoSIDA writing awards in three of five categories among District 4 entrants.
Painter won for general feature, event coverage and coach/administrator feature.
Painter lost his job in a recent UT staff reduction.
