Zack Godley gets 'alternate' experience

Pitcher Zack Godley has been added to the Collegiate National Baseball Team as an alternate by his Tennessee coach Dave Serrano.

Godley, a junior right-hander, is in camp in Cary, N.C. The national team — also coached by Serrano will play four games against summer league teams from North Carolina.

The final 22-man roster will be announced Thursday.

"It's great to get the chance to be around so many great players and see first-hand what it is that makes each of them so successful,'' Godley said in a UT release. "I expect to learn a lot from this coaching staff and my teammates and I'm honored to have the opportunity to represent my country.''

Alexander Wins: Annie Alexander, who recently completed her career at UT, won the discus at the Trinidad and Tobago national championships.

However, her winning throw of 185 feet, 6 inches, does not meet the Olympic Games "A" standard, thus she will not be representing her country at the London Games.

She also finished second in the shot put (55-1).

UT freshman Jamol James ran a 10.17 seconds in the 100 meters to finish sixth in the finals. That was a personal record.
