— A year ago at this time, Vonn Bell was just trying to fit in with his new Ridgeland High School football teammates. Now there are entire Internet message boards dedicated to him and where he might matriculate with his considerable talents.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound senior safety and receiver is ranked as high as the 19th best overall prospect in the country by 247Sports.com. He has more than 20 big-time scholarship offers -- big as in Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

His junior statistics were off-the-chart good: 180 total tackles, 119 solo tackles, five interceptions, three forced fumbles and three recoveries for touchdowns. He added 31 receptions for 487 yards and six touchdowns receiving and 280 yards and five scores rushing.

If Fulmer were still Coach there is no way an in state talent would not go to Tennessee. Of course with no-game Double D in there Bell would be wise to take his talents to Alabama or Florida.

You might want to specify that these guys are in-state talent that got away with Fulmer as coach. SevenT probably won't get the reference.

He gets the reference. Like all trolls he doesn't care. He's just on this site to instigate and stir the pot. Probably much like in his personal life

Ridgeland is in Georgia, Rossville to be exact. This kid is a player but only time will tell how he handles the college game

keepitreal4vols writes:

Kid dreamed of being a Vol but Terry Joseph dropped the ball reaching out to this kid. vonn never heard from UT while everyone else was recruiting him. Add him to the list above, and Garrett Reynolds.

PUL4VOLS writes:

How is a kid who plays in Rossville, GA IN STATE? Some people are not paying attention. He goes to Ridgeland, High School near Rossville, GEORGIA. Nevertheless he is an outstanding high school talent and very close to being in state. Therefore no matter what Fulmer didn't do(in the past) or T. Joseph didn't do(in the past), someone needs to be hot on Vonn's trail. It is yet to be seen where he ends up.

Da'Rick Rogers anybody? Cordarelle Peterson (Scout) anybody?

chattavfl86 writes:

Von is from chattanooga. Went to central high school until after his sophomore year. Iirc he transfered to ridgeland bc his mom works there. He may even still live in Tennessee. Also, general consensus among knowledgeable people is vonn hasnt pulled the trigger on ut bc he has concerns with stability, meaning he will be ut bound if tjere is no coaching turnover ie we have a good season and dooley stays.

Thanks, you beat me to it and saved me looking for others.

I know this kid's teamates and coaches and if you care to wager, PM me. $100 says he is a Vol and you are an idiot.

orangecountyvols writes:

clcVol, Crimson /viper, and other /vols,

You are both correct. Fulmer now has nothing to do with anything, thank you Seven times a troll.

Guys, as a matter of fact, if this kid, Seven-times-a-troll had anything to do with it, we'd never see a recruit wearing the Orange.

Thank goodness trolls like this one are insignificant.

Your post is THE word on V. Bell. IMO

HighPlainsVol writes:

What's his preference, safety or WR. I hope he will be a team guy if he signs with the Big Orange. I think defense is a much bigger need than WR.

OrangePsyched writes:

If this kid is waiting for a sign of stability then he should be satisfied by game 5 when we are 4-0. With this season being a huge success recruiting won't be a problem for a while. After this year trolls will realize that CDD is here to stay.

Im hoping we can get some big time recruits like Vonn Bell. I am happy to have any player, but tired of looking at our recruiting board and the other schools that offer the players we are getting.. such as Akron, Arizona, San Diego State, FAU, Marshall, and Memphis. It's great we are getting players but going up against these schools that have offered the players that we are handing out Scholorships to is kind of getting old. Go Vols

Stars mean squat. Look at how quickly all the "stars" fell out out of Kiffin's TN recruiting class. 2/3 were gone within 2 years.

Arnett was. Peterson is easy to overlook since JUCOS get excluded in a lot of class rankings. But, I am pretty sure if he gets in, you will see that 5th star quickly.

Dude, Fulmer routinely got out-recruited in Tennessee with player after player taking their talents elsewhere. He couldn't even convince the Goodpasture High receiver whose uncles PLAYED at UT to come there - he went to USC. The only reason Fulmer's talent pool was so rich was the state of Georgia. Go back and look when UT started to decline - about the time Mark Richt established himself at Georgia and shut down the state, especially to UT. The list of NFL-calibre players Fulmer took right out of the shadow of Samford stadium is impressive. Dooley, not Fulmer, actually has a chance to rekindle that pipeline if for no other reason than his last name. Dooley hasn't won anything to speak of and that's a legitimate issue but claiming Fulmer shut down our borders to recruits is revisionist history. More Fulmer Kool-Aid bro'. Go Vols!!!
