Govols247: Recruiting steals show in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Regardless of the sport, the four main topics of conversation at Tennessee’s annual Big Orange Caravan stop in Memphis remain the same.

Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting and whether the Vols will continue playing in-state, out-of-conference rival Memphis.

There was a big blow up between Dooley and a local fan in Memphis. It got a little disorderly. The fan got upset because Dooley doesnt seem to show Memphis the same love that some other cities get. He said Dooley didn't really show the respect to Memphis coaches and recruits that guys like Saban and Dan Mullen have. Dooley walked off the stage.

At the time, I really didn't think that much of it. I still don't. But its clear that Dooley has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, and there are some bridges that need to be mended before he gets the support from the entire fan/ alumni base.

A local fan in Memphis, hehe. From what I've read elsewhere, it was Roy Adams aka Tennstud who simply spews out venom at anyone he doesn't like. And he really doesn't like Coach Dooley.

Here's a synopsis:
"When things were wrapping up at the end, Roy stood up and made a scene. He said something to the effect of the coaches didn't know that Memphis was in the state, they never said anything about Memphis, he was proud of Memphis, he said there were 4 players from Memphis there and nobody said anything about them."

"Dooley then took the mic and asked him if he was going to call him out like he did at another event, then told Roy that it was against NCAA rules to talk about players he was recruiting, then said that they loved Memphis. Dooley took care of it pretty well."

And now you know the rest of the story.

Witch Doctor say hes a whack fan called "Tennstud" on the other boards. Witch Doctor say he used to get pretty good info from time to time but like many his "sources" have been halted by Dooleys media policy. Witch Doctor think hes a little too struck on himself..who reveals who they really are one an anonymous boards just to take credit when you do guess somethings right???
Witch Doctor say some live big in their heads! lol.
Bones never lie.

The problem with recruiting Memphis existed long before Dooley, I see it as more of a social issue. People of west Tennessee have little in common with those of east Tennessee. I lived there and often heard "Memphis is the biggest city in Mississippi", many don't even consider themselves part of Tennessee.

I grew up in West Tennessee and always loved the Vols, but then I was 100 miles due east of Memphis near the Tennessee River. I didn't mind so much running into those occasional "Memphis State" fans, but I didn't care for the Ole Miss and Bama fans. I certainly could not understand how one could grow up in Tennessee and be a Bama fan. For me as a kid, it was a matter of pride.

Go Vols!

Actually I think I would disagree that most Memphians dont consider themselves Tennesseans...actually unless they are terrified Memphis fans most in the Memphis area LOVE East Tennessee and consider it a joy to come this way....Recruiting the Memphis kid is a very delicate situation...You have to be very careful about who you take...Just a fact of life....yeah we've missed out on some big time players but I can assure you its not because we are the hated Tennessee that so many speak of....

Too bad she will not be here to work w/those getting ready to pressure dumbaxxes moderating Gridpoop into shutting up, until they know the difference between foosball & football or basketball & a jockstrap.

Gridpoop’s garbage is due to moderators, in my opinion---dirtbags both---VolMaynbe & StallionDoofus.

These 2losers encourage rednecked elements in East Tennessee or 8thgraders w/new computers, to say lousy things about Memphis, because boards, it is rumored, get tickets by covering up lousy recruiting Doodley has been doing there; so mods don’t care if they make it difficult 4 Martin.

They insult Vol fans in Memphis...including kids who would like to play for UT, but now have 2nd thoughts. Volfans all over Memphis know that is JUST what Gridpoop has done.

VolStallionDoofus is stupid enough he wants H.S. coaches disatisfied with UT recruiting in Memphis identified. What a stupid thing to advocate. Fingering coaches DEFINITELY makes them want their recruits to go to UT???

VolMay(n)be is just as dumb. He wants to pick some rednecked fight, too, every chance he gets with anybody outside the Nashville-Knoxville corridor.

Two shortsighted drips: Together they have stirred up hornets' nests, following Roy Adams' truthful challenging of Dooley in Memphis @ the UT caravan.Fact is, Dooley barely says hello to UT NFLers from Memphis. Dooley's stupidity makes it hard on Martin w/Memphis players. There are several 4 -5 stars every year fm Memphis.

With Stokes UT should be racking up Memphis recruiting...but these two moderators & Dooley make it very difficult, due to ill will underwritten by Gridpoop mismanagement.

Here is an example of a Memphis-based UT fan noticing how well Gridpoop posters’ anti-Memphis bias:

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=7&...

The only way UT wins recruiting wars in Memphis is for Gridpoop to shut up, & stop stirring up rednecks who deliberately offend Memphis & West Tennessee readers. With Memphis/West Tennessee Athletes, UT is far more competitive than without. Just that simple:

Clear current
Stokes current
Clifton all-AM
Williams all-Am
Wilson all-Am
& others every year who are 4-star & better going to other SEC & other schools-who could be recruited to UT, if the daxxed rednecks on Gridpoop & in East Tennessee won’t keep their mouths shut.

Nobody wants to go to a place w/an ignorance quotient high as those two moderators protect from EastTennessee.

I hope to hexx that board owner wakes up & stops their covering up UT’s screwups, & lets real world recruiting losses in Memphis & surrounding area that UT coaches are racking up in recruiting, be the force pressuring UT.
Otherwise Gridpoop is trouble for everybody but those who are troubled.
