Tennessee won its ninth consecutive volleyball match against Ole Miss on Friday, winning in straight sets, 25-15, 25-18, 25-19, at the Gillom Center in Oxford, Miss.
Outside hitter Kelsey Robinson led the Lady Vols (18-6, 11-4 SEC) with 12 kills and added 11 digs for her 44th career double-double. Setter Mary Pollmiller added 35 assists and 10 digs, while Ellen Mullins had a match-high 15 digs.
Tennessee hit .364 in the match and held Ole Miss (10-14, 4-11) to a .104 attacking clip.
Men's Tennis: Tennessee sophomore Mikelis Libietis won a marathon but lost a sprint at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in New York.
Libietis started his day with a two-and-a-half hour battle to get past Ole Miss' Jonas Lutjen and followed that with a fast-paced, strong serving 6-3, 6-3 loss to Virginia's Jarmere Jenkins at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
In his first singles match, Libietis overcame losing a first-set tiebreaker in which he had his chances to rebound for a 6-7 (6), 7-5, 6-2 win over Lutjen to advance to his first career national quarterfinal.
Libietis was up a break early and led the tiebreaker on two occasions before Lutjen came away with the opening set. On his fourth set point, Libietis broke Lutjen to take the second set 7-5 and rolled in the third.
Libietis and Jenkins played a much faster, fire-powered game. They rolled through games, oftentimes in less than a minute or two between the service winners and short points.
Libietis was broken at 3-4 in the first set, and Jenkins served out the last game. Jenkins took advantage of Libietis' unforced errors in the second set, breaking the Vols' ace three times. Libietis rallied midway through the set, but it wasn't enough.
In doubles consolation, Libietis and John Collins lost 8-4 to Alex Domijan and Richmond Harrison.
Women's Tennis: UT's Brynn Boren was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships after a 6-1, 6-1 loss to fifth-seeded Robin Anderson of UCLA.
Boren won her first singles match of the day, a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Danielle Collins of Florida.
In the doubles quarterfinals, Boren and Kata Szekely were up two breaks but lost the momentum in a 9-7 loss to Pepperdine's Lorraine Guillermo and Khunpak Issara.
Boren served for the match at 7-6, but the Waves broke serve and won three games in a row.
In a first-round consolation singles match, Szekely lost to Whitney Kay of North Carolina 7-6, 6-4.
