Jannah Tucker, Mercedes Russell, Jordan Reynolds sign with Lady Vols

Three recruits sign with UT

Jannah Tucker started her day on Wednesday with a signature.

The 6-foot women's basketball guard from Randallstown, Md., signed her letter of intent with Tennessee before going to school, said Tucker's father, Robert.

By midday, Tucker was joined in the signing class by Mercedes Russell, a 6-5 center from Springfield (Ore.) High who is ranked No. 1 in the Class of 2013.

Jordan Reynolds from Portland, Ore., also signed with Tennessee on the first day of the signing period. The 5-10 guard originally was expected to sign on Friday.

Rutgers must be pushing hard for Scaife because they have no players recruited in the hoopgurlz top 100!

You can bet they have thier eyes on her. Hoopgurlz only shows the Terrific 25 for the class of 2014. Especially if she's playing AAU ball. I think they watch them all.

Women's basketball will have about 5-6 equally good teams next year after Baylor hoist the trophy. Should be some exciting games the next couple years. Hopefully our lady Vols will hang some more banners in TBA.

We'll hold our breath untill Friday. That Vivian Stringer is a tough recruiter.

Interesting info. The question is - do you want to be a part of the number one recruiting class and be an important cog of a potential NC team for several years or do you want to be a stand alone star on a team that probably won't compete for a NC while you are there. No disrespect to Vivian S. but there is just a stark contrast here. Guess it will just depend on the kid. One is not better than the other just interesting.

It may not be that Rutgers doesn't have any players committed because some schools do not list them until they have already signed. We'll know soon enough so in the meantime lets hold out hope. Plus, I don't think anyone would put all their effort into one recruit

Don't count Vivian out. She had the third ranked recruiting (whatever that is worth) class the last two years. Maybe she isn't signing many this year because she doesn't have anyplace to put them. They have a lot of guards on the roster. Hopefully that will help steer Scaife to Tennessee.

What about Carter getting 26 min per game. No one would have thought it with Massengale already entrenched at the point. Just shows how little I know. Also, maybe shows the need for guards who can shoot, dribble and guard.

I don't think any school is allowed to list them. However, many of the potential recruits make public thier choice (sometimes choices) and ESPN, Scout, Hoopgurlz publish the list. At least that is where I got the info that the "best chances" for Scaife was Rutgers and Tennessee. Shoot, It may be Arkansas or LSU (or UTC), who knows.

I would never count Vivian out - she is one of my favorites. You are right I hadn't considered that her roster was pretty full. Anyway if Scaife ends up as at UT or Rutgers she will be in good hands. I still like our chances for a NC over the next few years over Rutgers but wouldn't disrespect that program.
Also think Stanford and UNC have great programs. I don't get the Duke thing though. Their coach always seems a little greasy to me. Wasn't there some dust up about her husband and Mich St. Anyway hope she comes to UT but very excited about our current team and next years recruits.
Go Lady Vols!

Yeah I'm glad the year has started. Football was lousy this year. I predict our girls will be in good shape when we hit the SEC schedule. Yes we might take a L with Baylor but our other opponents we match up with. Miami should give us a good idea on how fast we learned against Chatt. Away game should be a good test. UNC should be challenging but winnable as they have a young team too. I like a Vol win against Stanford. Our length and quickness will be key .

I wish that were true about uconn but look for them to recruit more next year. For now, they are pretty well loaded with talent and still may sign some very highly rated this year. Also, Geno knows what he needs in talent.

Vivian is a lot like Summitt--lots of emphasis on defense, which is good, but at best a mediocre offensive coach.

Great!...Men's and Ladies with a good haul. Technically you'd have to say the ladies did better but we don't know till they play. I'll watch all I can of both. well this year too.
