What's your feeling about the Vols after the Georgia game?

ATHENS. Ga. — You're obviously happier if you're a Georgia Bulldog this morning. Your No. 5-ranked team is not only 5-0 on the year after Saturday's 51-44 victory over Tennessee and 3-0 in the Southeastern Conference, but you've scored at least 41 points in all five games.

Maybe South Carolina will have an answer for you this coming weekend in Columbia, or maybe no one will stop you until the SEC title game, if then.

Regardless, it remains a good thing to be a Dawg these days.

Or as winning coach Mark Richt noted, "We're right where we want to be."

Not "proud" of losing...no one is!! So get off that byline. Instant gratification society ignoring the facts will never be happy unless(apparently) NC every year. How many schollies were we down year one? So gaining back numbers, getting quality recruits, staff hirings on the fly/changes,etc and you have a formula for slow climb from the abyss. Some look today and say "this ain't Tennessee ball like in the past." Your right! Can't have 100 guys on the sidelines anymore like in the days of Dickey,Majors, the Bear etc . The playing field has changed while fan expectations remain the same. That's ok if tempered with a dose of reality to analyze state of a program. I saw improvement in offense and team not quitting. I agree that should be BAU ,but they have been working on changing the culture to get that back to being the norm. It has been known that 3-4 would be a tough transition. Saturday was the first game where I saw poor tackling technique as this year had seen wrapping up as opposed to somebody just ramming in to an opponent and thinking that was good enough. We were out of position and no speed to run down those rascally dawwgs as they scampered untouched. So need to manage containment and spacing to not have those breakdowns continue to bite our posteriors in future games. GO VOLS BEAT OPEN DATE!!! laugh a lil it is good medicine when done at the appropriate time. GO VOLS!!

red, with your attitude you will never be more than a whiner, never a winner, not even a close 2nd. Things are never as simple as coaching merry-go-round. Winners require patience and hard work. Perhaps a little of that would go a long way in developing a winning attitude in yourself as a Vols fan, IF indeed you are one.

If you must ALWAYS have things go your way, you will always be a whiner. Losing games while improving is how winners are developed. No coach, you pick em, will ever come in here an be an instant winner, especially while cleaning up devastating messes created by previous so-called instant winners.

I didn't read anywhere in the article or comments where anyone is "proud of losing."

If you've got a personal beef with Dooley, take it up with him. As for your whining on here, leave off.

Go Vols! Beat those MSU dawgs!!!

vol4gzus, First class post, sensible as usual. I'm so nauseated by so many constantly bashing what Dooley is ernestly working at, to develop winning attitudes in the players he has to put on the field NOW. If we don't have a Gurley, or Heisman-type right now, we have to utilize what we do have. The potential is there, given time to develop.

I do believe these distasteful whiners may have gone thru several sets of parents in their lifetime making them somewhat disfunctional, unable to understand what it takes to discipline a group of young men. That would explain why they are so bitter, and needing an outlet to murmur.

I also was proud of VOLS for not quitting but fact is they lost.
I saw lots of improvements in some areas, but kicking and D still remains as major concerns. Kicking is a "head" game and until one of them gets it out of their head, there is no amount of coaching that can fix it. The D on the other hand is unbelievably bad. How is it possible to be as bad as it is? Is it positioning? Is it understanding new D? Is it poor coaching? or Is it just NO talent.
This was first game that I saw RB hitting holes with conviction and fighting for an extra yard.
Rivera and Rogers deserve kudos, but otherwise passing attack did not do a whole lot to help.
Also, as much as I have complained about Channey's play calling (predicatble), I felt like he called his best most complete game. Another one of my complaints has been Bray's unwillingness to run, but after Saturday, I do not think I want him to.
Two weeks for VOLS to work ouot their problems.

GO BIG RNG...VFL

Go Vols! You played hard for Tennessee. Keep your heads up and keep fighting! If we can just stop the big plays and the gashing for yards, we can compete with anyone. I believe we will get this stopped. Hang on folks!

I wish we were deeper at tight end so the coaches could use Rivera more often. We cannot afford for him to go down, that's for sure...the man is a HUGE asset and he will be the difference in close games to come.

Are we turning into Vandy? This is the type of article that is usually written about Vanderbilt. You know, how they played hard and were not expected to do well but, doggone it, they played hard and almost made a game of it....you know....Vandy

No.

That kind of article is written about almost every game Vandy plays. It is only written about Tennessee when they have been the underdog in a game against a Top 10 team against whom they were expected to lose big.

Hope that clears it up for you.

I think you're right about instant gratification seekers. We're heading in the right direction and everyone knows it especially the haters. That's when they get even madder! I don't care about them. Just looking for improvement in the Vols and their fight! Go Big Orange!!!

Talk Monster was saying some funny things about the "fire Dooley" crowd. Not too mean but not favorable either.

Regardless I do hope we at least wait till we know whether it's a good idea. Talk radio also felt(some of them) that Dooley hasn't had time to completely turn things around. They also think that it'd be bad for the program to fire Dooley so early.

We ALL know he was hired to "fix it" and was (at least the media hinted that) he was to have the time necessary to do so. Well vol fans he's done fairly well with our offense. If our D starts to improve how can any real fan argue with that?

Tune in Saturday for the continuing episode.
