No Pass Is Safe: Mississippi State and Tennessee share the SEC lead (along with Alabama) with nine interceptions. Edge to the Bulldogs for a 28-yard average on returns, compared to 12 yards for the Vols. Who gets No. 10 for UT? Freshman safety LaDarrell McNeil throws his helmet in the ring.
Who's The Bully?: Tennessee has not only won the past six games in the series, it's won them by a whopping average of 24.5 points. The Bulldogs' best effort in that span was a 24-14 loss in the 1998 SEC championship Game.
Upstairs View: Derek Dooley, recovering from hip surgery, will be out of harm's way in the press-box booth. The party line is that it won't affect administration of the game. But Dooley will presumably be able to tug on Jim Chaney's sleeve if he doesn't like a play call.
Pace Yourself: The 9 p.m. Eastern kickoff is Tennessee's latest since 2002. A carefully regimented schedule will assure the players don't peak too early in the day. The fans, however, are on their own.
The 70 Club: Tennessee has been gashed for five touchdowns of 70 or more yards in the past three games. The Bulldogs might have a pool to see who joins the club. The Vols insist membership is now closed.
