Ohio State, Northwestern unhappy with Vanderbilt cancellations

Commodores informed schools via U.S. Mail

NASHVILLE - Athletics directors from Ohio State and Northwester, as well as Wildcats football coach Pat Fitzgerald have voiced their displeasure since Vanderbilt broke contracts with each school that included games in 2013.

Vanderbilt also backed out of a 2014 game with Northwestern.

The cancellations were revealed Thursday when the Southeastern Conference released its 2013 schedule and Vanderbilt announced its entire 2013 schedule.

It wasn’t just the contracts being broken that had the Big Ten duo fuming — it was the method by which Vanderbilt let them know: a letter sent via U.S. Mail.

vandy being vandy! Just like when they didn't apologize for taking out our lineman at midfield last year (cost them the game, however), or injuring our band members deliberately in 1985. Classy

I hope it doesn't turn out that we wished that they had cancelled THIS YEAR with us. A loss to Vandy, wouldn't that be a kick in the butt. Gotta win that one.

We don't have much room to talk. We backed out of games with UNC not because of a scheduling conflict, but because we knew we couldn't beat them.

....its Vandy, so what did they expect?

Ohio State canceled the home/home series with Tennessee for 2018 and 2019 back in 2011. I wonder why they are whining because Vandy canceled?

Vanderbilt is looking for more Presbyterian-ish opponents. It helps them become bowl eligible. Maybe they should go ahead and schedule them and umass again or Tennessee School for the Blind

If the SEC scheduled SEC games for them the same days as those games. they can't be in two places at the same time

I suspect b/c it's next season's games.

Big 10 schools do not often get to play SEC teams they can beat. I suspect it has a lot to do with them wanting to claim victories over an SEC team. This type type of cancellation may not be the most endearing but it is not uncommon...and they know it.
I live in big 10 country and the Michigan loss to Miss. State a couple of years ago really stung Big 10 fans a lot.

As Dooley is heading out the door I wonder if he wishes he had kept that one on the schedule. not that I think Dooley could beat any team thats remotely decent it might at least give him something to argue.

I bet Vandy wouldn't run and hide from North Carolina.
