COLUMBIA, S.C. — A brisk wind whipped through Williams-Brice Stadium this morning and there remained a slight threat of rain as Tennessee and South Carolina prepared for kickoff.

The Vols (3-4, 0-4 SEC) and No. 17 South Carolina (6-2, 4-2) play today at noon (TV: ESPN).

The strong winds could play havoc with both teams' passing games. Tennessee running back Rajion Neal is expected to return to action after missing last week with an ankle injury. South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore is expected to be closer to full speed after being limited by a hip injury.

Have a feeling we'll see Worley today. I really get frustrated when I think of why Dooley has stayed with and protected Bray for this long. If he technically wasn't one of Dooley's recruits, why not go with one he DID recruit?

VOLHbomb writes:

Really...the wind. Dooley era ends today! I'm already celebrating!!

Nothing can effect our secondary. You have to have one first.Lattimore with 235 yards.

Can someone give Dooley a hang glider

Hey Merlot, Another 3 meaningless points at the end of the game may possibly affect the spread, but really don't think so. Are you sure you're not just feeling weird? Enjoy the game--hopefully, we will still be in it at the half.

Another 3 and out to start the game, unbelievable.

pcorange writes:

It's already started. 3 and out, then an easy 81 yard drive for SC. We stink.

Absolutely...

The outside Express Lane is open again...USC has their 1st 7.....

The wind....how about their offense and our defense. 81 yards and its 7 zip.

And we give up another 4th down play. Next play, TD.

volaholic45 writes:

3 and out with a drop on 3rd, followed by an 81 yd drive, aided by a lucky 3rd down completion on a tipped pass - the Dooley luck continues. That didn't take long. Deja vu all over again.

Seriously....has there been a worse defense in the history of UT Football?

These noon games can be odd, particularly when the home team jumps out to a lead. Everyone goes flat after that, fans, players, coaches, even the announcers.

vfl76 writes:

It is about time we started using other Receivers....7 to 7 now.

3 and 13....completed Pass....are they using Chavis' playbook?

we seem to do better with 3rd and 5 or shorter....we held them for a change.....Let's go Bray

It's called the SunSeriously defense, mdvol. I am surprised that you didn't predict that UT would "hang" 40 on SC. You definitely get my vote for the most positive TN poster, even if I do think you are not the most realistic.

Come on Vols, please save Doofus's job. Don't worry about those pink shoes.

Looks like the wind is affecting Palardy's punting. 6 yard punt.

I'm not sure there's been a worse defense in the history of college football period.

Bad call negates a turnover that would have been in our favor. Dang.

That was bs. No way that was a horse collar.

GatorHater1998 writes:

First they blow the horse collar call, then they don't call grounding, RIDICULOUS. We should have the ball right now on their side of the field

HtownVol writes:

SO refs are goina e who wins this game, a BS horse collar call then Shaw throws it to the endzone with no SC player within 20 yards and he is in the pocket... NO ALL!!!

Palardy is a IDIOT!!

6 yard punt... WTF???????

COuldnt good coaching make a difference in these mistakes that is beating UT?

volfaninbuckeyeland writes:

I normally do not criticize the refs, but that call & no call were, IMO, totally blown!

pcorange writes:

We can't buy a stop.

pcorange writes:

You've got to be kidding me! 3rd and goal from the 26 yard line and they throw a TD right over the middle. We're awful!

HtownVol writes:

3rd and goal at the 27 and SC scores a TD. THAT IS JUST PLAIN PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

vfl76 writes:

Yep, Chavis must be out directing the Defense...3rd and long and they score.....

GatorHater1998 writes:

Stupid refs and DBs cost us a stop

Could this be the year the BO go winless in the SEC?

You wish!

HtownVol writes:

How in the ____ does any team give up a TD on 3rd and goal from the 27 yard line??????\

Honestly that was the DUMBEST defensive play I have seen in a long time.

Does Sal Sunseri deserve this job? As much as Dooley likely.

10seVol85_Part_Deux writes:

If I were Spurrier, I would line the offense up in the shotgun on first and second down and take a knee, so we could have third and long every time.

VolGrad writes:

Byron Moore love tap on TE instead of a tackle. He was in position to make the play and didn't. And he is better than that.

C'mon man.

DeltaCharlie3 writes:

in response to GatorHater1998:

The horse collar was clear, but that definitely should have been grounding.

But does it really matter with your defense? Why does anyone ever punt against UT?

orangecountyvols writes:

Vols,

Give Tom Ritter a huge credit so far in this one. 2 blown calls..........

plus, Sal Sunseri..........new version of 3rd and Chavis.............

VOL_MAROONED_IN_NC writes:

The stupidity of Sal Sunseri combined with the incredibly bad play of Byron Moore will be worse than the wind.

vfl76 writes:

Need 5 yards and we throw it behind the line of scrimmage....unbelievabel......cannot #1 kick the ball?

Vol43 writes:

The refs sure do seem to like the gamecocks. just saying

TooDlems writes:

Hate to say it folks, but I think your Vols have quit.

VolGrad writes:

Can't rip Sal when he had a guy in position to make the play. Sal can't tackle for him. There's a time throw a shoulder and there's a time to simply wrap up. Byron should know the difference. He was there, and he was in perfect position to stop that play.

HtownVol writes:

WHY in the HELL does Palardy keep kicking it to the stands for punts that a 10 year old can do better?

That is it, Dooley is a joke, he cant send a mewsage to the team. 3rd and one, false start. 3rd and 6 and a pass behind the line. A punt that goes 25 yards after the last one went 6 yards.
And the worst defensive play ever.

This staff is seriously a JOKE and UT fans deserve BETTER!

volaholic45 writes:

Starting to rethink the thing about the team "quitting." Maybe they are just woefully inferior players at this level.
