Tennessee pitcher Drake Owenby faces DUI charge

UT pitcher did not make road trip

Tennessee freshman pitcher Drake Owenby faces a DUI charge after a police stop early Sunday.

The Vols were playing at Kentucky over the weekend, but the Powell High School graduate remained in Knoxville because of an injured hamstring.

Knoxville police say Owenby was stopped at 2:44 a.m. Sunday after his car crossed the lane lines several times on Interstate 275. According to police, the 19-year-old Owenby had blood-shot eyes, struggled to concentrate and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was charged with driving under the influence and underage possession of alcoholic beverages.

UT athletic department spokesman Jimmy Stanton said “we are in the process of gathering the facts and will handle the matter internally.”

The left-hander is 2-0 with one save and a 4.66

ERA in 11 appearances.

I can't really bust on the guy too bad, I was Pike in college and our toga party's were legendary..The Pikes at UT were disbanded after some let's say uncouth drinking practices.
