KNOXVILLE — Hey, Sal Sunseri's defense never gave up 71 points.

OK, so we kid. Tennessee's Orange unit (defense) may have surrendered 71 points to the Whites (offense) in new coach Butch Jones' version of the modified Stableford scoring system, Spring Football Edition, but it also racked up 95 points.

And as any Vols coaching legend in any sport -- be it Pat Summitt, Ray Mears, Gen. Robert Neyland (well, maybe not Neyland) or Phillip Fulmer almost certainly would agree -- a 24-point win is nothing to ridicule.

Yes, the defense certainly looked more stable and high energy than anything we saw last year. And it was encouraging not to see wide open receivers all over the field on every play. In fact, one of the reasons for the ulta poor passing game was the lack of open targets. But that said, most of the top receivers were on the sideline and we can all be certain that the routes were just basic packages. Some nice work by the running backs and, with regard to field vision and cuts upfieeld, I saw flashes of Neal that were rarely there last year. Let's hope that's a good sign. Overall, it was a fun day. LOTS of fans, lots of orange, and the stadium began to feel like the "old Tennessee." Can we sustain it??? WE ALL SO WANT THAT TO BE THE CASE! GO VOLS! GO CBJ!!

Wiedmer, Climer, and Adams...what a trio, uh? The worst thing about being a UT fan is putting up with these guys. Please don't come back and say these guys are just printing the truth and try to convince me that I want news through orange colored Glasses. I am not talking about that. And, I want the truthful news. They all three have biased agendas. They always attempt to work something negative into the picture. I just try to occasionally throw some counter punches. BOOOOO Wiedmer, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. If you think I am right, just respond with some more boooos.

One thing that I did see at the orange and white game were Evan and Elliot Berry. They appeared to be really enjoying the atmosphere. I sure hope to see those two in Big Orange in 2014.

Oh yeah, GO VOLS.
