Utah State announced the news in a press release on Friday. UT did not immediately confirm the schedule, as the school plans to announce the entire slate in concert with the SEC.
UT and Utah State had previously been scheduled to meet on Nov. 8, 2014, but schedules have been in flux amid league expansion in the SEC and elsewhere.
"We are pleased with the opportunity to move the Tennessee game to the first week of the 2014 season," Utah State AD Scott Barnes said in the release. "It simply works better in every aspect of our schedule. I appreciate working with Tennessee Athletic Director Dave Hart to get this done."
The Aggies, members of the Mountain West conference, have never played UT in football. Utah State is 1-16 all-time against current SEC members, beating only Kentucky. However, the Aggies nearly stunned Auburn in 2011 before squandering a late lead in the final seconds.
