Team USA only needed four innings to run rule Columbia 12-0 Tuesday in a Pan American Games Qualifier in San Juan, Puerto Rico. But that was still enough time for former Tennessee star Raven Chavanne to record two hits and two RBIs.
Chavanne had RBI singles in a four-run second and five-run third. Both times she plated Michelle Moultrie, who had five RBIs. Former Lady Vols second baseman Lauren Gibson was 0-for-1 with a walk.
With Chavanne and Gibson in the lineup on Monday, the U.S. defeated Cuba 5-1.
The U.S. trailed 1-0 after three innings and had to sit through a long rain delay. The game started at 9 a.m. and ended at 7:27 p.m.
Chavanne was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Gibson was 1-for-4 with one run scored.
Team USA continues pool play on Wednesday against Argentina at 9 a.m.
