Once touted, Beech’s tailback depth is about to be tested.
The announcement that record-setting Tennessee commitment Jalen Hurd will miss the rest of the season after a shoulder injury will put Dorian Carter — who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers’ opener — at center stage.
“It’s not good news,” said Carter, who missed the early portion of his junior season but rushed for 573 yards and 13 touchdowns last fall. “It affects the whole team, but we’re going to keep pushing, keep running, do what we do best.
“Getting the opportunity to be ‘the guy,’ I know I have to get better, help lead the team, make plays and rush for more yards. I wish it hadn’t happened. I hope he gets better and recovers soon.”
