After a staggering holiday weekend of college football, I’m too wiped out to applaud Chris Davis, Tyvis Powell and Henry Josey.

Of course Mike, I thought everyone had Auburn, Missouri and Duke in their conference championship games! Pretty much a no-brainier, right? lol

This is why they play the games; nobody wins anything on paper.

We have a steeper hill than either Missou or Auburn to get back to Big Time football and championships. We lose 28 seniors and probably 2 juniors, but we will bring in 30+ guys to begin the climb. Could be one more year of struggle, or at least I anticipate that. I would settle right now for 4 SEC wins in 2014.

10 SEC teams get to go bowling and we are not one of them. Unbelievable the vols have dropped this far. When was the last time both Tennessee and Florida failed to make a bowl?

You are an optimist considering they only have 4 SEC wins the last 3 seasons. Looking at next years schedule 4 total wins might come into play, but I hope it won't be that bad.

Three non-con wins pretty much guaranteed for Vols next year. KY at home should be #4, and you'd think win #5 might lurk somewhere between FL at home, maybe Ole Miss or Vandy.

Thought comes to mind that Auburn may be buying players again, given how over the top college football has become down in Alabama. Killing trees, killing people, not much in the way of future tragedies waiting to happen could surprise me. Wouldn't attend an Iron Bowl if I were a fan of those schools. Safer (not to mention way cheaper) to watch on TV.

NCAA is just a bad joke nowadays, having lost all credibility in the Miami investigation fiasco. Schools and boosters get caught easily in the modern era but now everyone just chalks it up as more proof players should be paid and, poof! No more scandal!

I know, my optimism is shameful, lol. At this point it is a hope, or perhaps just a fantasy. Looking at the schedule and where we are right now, the realists will be predicting one or two conference wins. But jeepers, its Christmas, can't a guy who believes in Santa also believe in four SEC wins? Have a good holiday.
