No. As a Vol fan I don't want a team we have to play every year and recruit against 365 days a year to do well. It is hard enough to recruit in the SEC without a team having that advantage.

Depends on the team and the opponent. I'll generally always root for SEC teams, except Bama, unless they are playing Notre Dame or Big 10. I'll bet it's that way with a majority of the Vol faithful.

I care about the Tennessee Vols...and what is good for the Tennessee Vols. Teams in our own backyard, who we are recruiting against, stacking up championships DOES NOT help us. When are you people going to realize that?

The last 7 National Championships have been won by an SEC School other than Tennessee....what has that done to help Tennessee? How has our program fared over the last 7 years?

I just don't get this "My team isn't good enough to be in the title game....so I'm going to root for the guy that just beat my butt....that way he can get bigger and stronger and harder for me to beat"

Open your eyes. If you are a Tennessee fan there is NO WAY you should be rooting for Auburn in the Title game.....NONE. Auburn winning makes them stronger and FSU weaker. We want EXACTLY the opposite of that. We compete in our backyard for the same kids with Auburn. FSU competes in it's back yard for the same kids with Florida. WE WANT FSU TO BE GOOD.

I personally will be rooting for every single SEC team that plays in a bowl game to loose....and loose BIG....ANYTHING to make them look bad in the eyes of the recruits we are competing with them for. Remember....we only have the #2 recruiting class committed....signing day isn't till February....A LOT can happen between now and February.

Go Vols!!!!!!

I specifically root against SEC east teams to lose every game. If you are a ut fan you will too. ARE you a TN fan or an SEC fan? I'm both but a UT fan first! Tn fans who have started cheering for SEC schools have lost their way during our down yrs. One good example. If Vandy was pitiful this yr we would be in a bowl game. Then add a win if any other team was down that we played. Who wishes we had played ut Martin instead of Oregon? We would have another win, bowl practices, more momentum, a better team next yr etc. Rooting for competition to get better is really mixed up thinking.

Not really. I'd pull for North Korea against Florida.

The idiots that would pull for an SEC team to win the NC or a BCS bowl game while the Vols sit home again this year from losing to those teams are not Tennessee fans!
There is no benefit only a huge downside to our rivals winning while we keep losing.
You think the recruits want to play for a team that stays home? You think they like watching their peers get national attention and rings while watching ESPN trash the Tennessee program.
Lets see how Butch's recruiting finishes up and what kind of team he has next year. I bet Auburn snags a couple of our wants. Idiots!

How far from the top does your elevator stop?

If we want to be in the elite,we have to out recruit the elite. Then we can be where they are.

Go SEC.Show the world why the SEC is the greatest conference .

Remember when it was Tennessee and Florida that were the big dogs.Jones is getting us back there one brick at a time.

Where would have TN been during the Peyton yrs if Florida had been only good? We would have been an SEC dynasty and nobody would have said it was because of weak competition?

I bet the old ACC is so good now that they have FSU and Miami? No wait they are all suffering. Where would Clemson be this yr without FSU. ALOT BETTER shape.
Put the top 10 programs in one conference and wait 5-10 yrs and you will have alot of down programs!! Happens every time. PUT 12 down programs in 0ne conference wait 5-10 yrs and you will have 3 or 4 really strong programs. HAPPENS every time there is conference realignment.

"I'm of the belief that it's never ideal for a team to have another team in its conference win a national championship, especially one that's located so closeby — four and a half hours away. They're naturally going to be recruiting from the same pool, especially with the state of Georgia," he said. "I don't think it would help Tennessee a whole lot for Auburn to win a national title. I don't think it would be the end of the world if they did. But it's certainly something else that Tennessee would have to deal with, something else that could maybe sway some guys Auburn's way."
