247Sports national recruiting director JC Shurburtt joined Sports Page host Vince Ferrara and News Sentinel reporter Jesse Smithey to talk about UT recruiting, including what it means now that Tennessee has landed two big-name commitments — Charles Mosley and Josh Malone.

Mosley is a "heck of a get for out of Western Tennessee, and I think it gives Tennessee seven of the top eight in-state for this cycle," Shurburtt said. "It's been a good year for Tennessee to take advantage of the top talent (in state), and they've done so."

As for how the state of Tennessee compares to other states like California, Texas and Florida when it comes to producing so many talented and sought-after recruits, Shurburtt said Tennessee's role in the game is changing.

"I rated the top 20 college football jobs today, from a pure recruiting standpoint, and normally Tennessee does not go on that list. It's usually one of these jobs I call a 'challenge job,' " Shurburtt said. "I actually ranked Tennessee 17 this time because, when looking at it ... 2014, 2015, 2016, looking into the future, it's almost like the state of Arizona, where it's gone from 10 or 15 BCS-level guys to 25, and next cycle, maybe 30 or 35, and that should be the norm. So it's an improving talent base to where the Vols, like a lot of the other SEC schools, can rely on signing in-state talent."
