The 30-second clip of the Wichita State fight song — “Hail Wichita” — that blared from the Pratt Pavilion speakers over and over as the Tennessee men’s basketball team practiced Thursday was a somewhat obnoxious and headache-inducing sign.

This is a huge.....excuse me HUGE opportunity for the Vols. Win this game and it's much more difficult for the selection committee to look the other way in March.

I predict the Shockers by 15. The Vols are about to see what a well coached team looks like. And to thik, we could have had that coach. :-(

I think you are being a tad overly pessimistic, but I have to confess that Martin's Vols have rarely excelled in situations like this. One hates to speak of a "must" game in December, but the Vols will be relatively easy to overlook by the selection committee as a potential bubble team if they can't pull this one out. Hope Richardson's nerves aren't too jacked playing before the home folks. He doesn't have to lead the Vols in any category, but this would be a great time for him to have a great game.

BTW, why do you say we could have had the Shockers' coach? Did he express interest but wasn't offered? I think he would have been a good choice, but I never heard that he was ever in the running.

After the vols win this game, I would like all of you to relax. This guy came into a bad situation with the NCAA breathing down Tennessee's back and held the team together with what he had left. Now he is getting his players. I wish you all would sit back and enjoy the ride
