Chris Burke’s induction to the Tennessee Baseball Hall of Fame was postponed last January when snow and ice forced the cancellation of the Vols’ Leadoff Banquet.

On Jan. 16, UT will try again.

Burke’s induction will headline UT’s first Baseball Leadoff event, now dubbed a barbecue rather than a banquet. The event will be held in Thompson-Boling Arena.

Tickets are $14 and can be purchased at UTTix.com. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and parking is available in the G10 lot.

UT said the ticket includes a catered meal, post-event autograph session and the opportunity to meet with coaching staff and players.

Burke played shortstop for UT from 1999-2001. He was a two-time All-SEC selection and was twice named an All-American.

In 2001, he was named SEC Player of the Year after hitting .435 with 20 home runs and leading the Vols to the College World Series.

Burke was selected with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2001 draft by the Houston Astros. He played six seasons in the major leagues before retiring in 2010.
