KNOXVILLE — The recruiting finish line is in sight, and there's been one question rattling around in the orange-hued minds of many Tennessee fans.
How will Tennessee look when it gets there?
Butch Jones will pull in his first class as the Volunteers' coach Wednesday, national signing day, and Tennessee has positioned itself to be a factor for two five-star prospects and other big-name recruits.
"I think it's a great sign that the Vols have gotten these kids on campus, because that's a key," Scout analyst Jamie Newberg said this week. "They've been able to attract some guys. Vols fans may be disappointed because they want these big names who are left and may not get any, but I think moving forward that we've seen some good signs."

If UT could land two 5* athletes like Bell & Lawson it would be huge for this recruiting class. Both are said to leaning toward UT, I hope they are..We need some good news for a change..GBO!!
Coach_K writes:
I agree. I think we have our hearts set on Bell and am worried we may be let down again. I think no matter what happens on Wed. we will be ok this year. Like you say, it would be nice to have a win on signing day. It's been a while since we had something to feel up beat about. #class117 #itstime #risetothetop!

Looks like Bell has lost his spot at UA. A'Shawn Robinson the 5 star DT from Texas has named UA his leader, and RB Alvin Kamara and LB Reuben Foster have been in Tuscaloosa this wkend. Looks like all 3 may be wearing the crimson/white and 5 star DT Eddie Vanderhoes from California is in on an official. How many kids do you think CNS could sign w/o cap lol???
BIVOLAR_BEARE writes:
Good point, I'm also interested in Levenberry the 4* LB..He's in town this weekend and if UT can lure him over that fills an immediate need.

Any word on NCAA investigations yet??

Would be huge to flip these guys..Gonna be hard for Bell to ignore those NC rings and Sabans line of BS.. With Auburn getting Lawson's last visit he is now a long shot..A lot of these recruits late vol visits look like they are just jerking our chain..Best we can hope for is flipping QB Dobbs..As usual after all the hard work we may get a scrub RB..Losing Skipper to the Hogs was salt in the wound..I give Jone's much credit for landing North and putting our losing ;rebuilding program in contention for any 5 star player..Not only has he done that but he's got us in great position for a ton of good 2014 prospects

Actually bama used up their scholly to another commit..Our real competition for Bell is OSU and urbie meyer..As far as Lawson he was recruited originally by Aubie assistants that now are UT assistants, so that's not out of he question. I'm thinking UT will get one for sure (hoping for both). Also that RB from Memphis that de-committed from Vandy may well end up signing with UT. It's going to be interesting stuff come Wednesday morning.

chatterbox, no one cares about your bammer updates, so just STFU, and go back to drooling over your Nicky Saban poster.

I may be over optmistic but I think we will be pleasantly surprised on Wednesday. Does anyone know how many we can sign?

Lost his spot? Is that how you all spin it if you think someone you really want badly might go elsewhere? What a pathetic loser you are.

Frustrating that DD didn't recruit Bell his junior year. Bell had even better stats that year than he had his senior year. Yet another failure coming to the surface from the previous staff. I have been really impressed with Jones' first two months on the job, please keep it up.
Rtrchat: Fulmer leaked the story about the PED's at UA. Lol.

pretty sure the Memphis rb just committed to Ole Miss. yesterday.

With Lawson being at Auburn this weekend might have helped the Vols. Some of the recruits left after the blowup between Ruben Foster and Aubie center Reece Dismukes.
Snapshot writes:
If you think Satan wouldn't find a spot for Bell, you are an idiot. He has a history of getting rid of players (medical redshirt) for someone else. Bama under Nicky has had far more players put on med. redshirt than any other SEC school. Coincidence, I don't think so. Just another example of the bammers history of bending(cheating) the rules. Pretty disgusting, but that's the way the bammers roll.

At least these guys are starting to seriously consider UT. Looks like bUTch Jones is going to work out pretty well.

Realistically, we are coming off back to back to back losing seasons. We have a brand new coaching staff who has just started to build a relationship with some of these players. Honestly, if I were a five star recruit, it would be hard to say 'no' to Nick Saban. If you want to win a national championship as a player, it is hard to question Saban's ability to get you there. I am as hopeful as anybody that we can land a few more big names in this class, but I am also realistic and know that it may not be as we hope. If not, I am very impressed with the job that Jones' staff has done even getting us in the mix with some of these guys this soon after coming on board. I think good things are ahead for UT football. We desperately need to win 8 or more games this year and kind of get back on the map a little bit. A winning season, a bowl game, and Jones' ability to relate to these kids can only mean good things for 2014 recruiting.

Per Twitter Lawson said he was going to Auburn
Shake_Bake writes:
Yeah...I saw that too about Lawson. Too bad he would have looked great in orange and white. However...other internet sources are saying that we are in the lead to get Vonn Bell. Has anyone else seen this also?
allvol8 writes:
I agree he would look better in O&W...on Bell rumor has it he is going with Vols...but that is rumor only

Maybe we can find a better supporter to take your place. You must be looking for the 15-minute fix. The new coaching staff has been here less than two months and you expect a top-10 class? Of course our new coach is going to bring in his own guys. Cheek and Hart have not coached one down from the sidelines.

As of this morning ESPN has us rising to 29th. Still not a top 10 but improving. Im glad to see as time passes more and more fans, unlike you if you even are a fan and not a bored troll, are getting on board with CBJ and recognizing the work he's putting in. By no means am i promising he will get us into a NC or anything, but he's diving head first into UT and most of the comments previous to this are dead on..... It is a GREAT sign that CBJ has been able to get these kids to even look our way. Speaks volumes for the future.
dragon18 writes:
Glad to hear you are done! Now you can slink off somewhere and not try to bring the rest of us down that see the incredible effort and result that Jones is bringing. You crack on the 2 star, but the kid is very athletic and may be coached up to be something special. Other than that every other commit is a 3 or 4 star. Our player rating is higher than many top 15 teams we just don't have the numbers....yet.
So please- go away and come back when you are educated on what's really going on here.
SCVFL writes:
You will not be missed. Be peaved at Cheeks or Hart if you want, but what has CBJ done to earn your scorn?
I hope you are also done with this site.

We need a couple of big wins against ranked teams on national TV to get back in the hunt for the top prospects. A win against the FL Lizards would be good. A win against the Jawja poodles would be better and a win against Alabubba would be huge.

Ole Miss won a couple key games last year....and my oh my...look at Hugh Freeze's recruiting list.
If Butch wins a few key games this year, we could expect the same TN's recruiting upswing.
Gonna have to win first though...

Hey chicken little, the sky is not falling! CBJ and staff are working hard to make up ground that past staff has lost. I like CHANEY but his play calling was a mystery quite often.Wish we could have kept PITTMAN, but if CBJ wants his OL coach on his staff at UT thats fine with me.Cant expect a miracle WED. but 2014 will be a better tell. I'm more interested in can this staff coach-up our players? I dont see any way that they wont be an improvement from the last staff.
ut4life05 writes:
Yeah... What they're gonna do is lock all the sanchines they have against Alawama away fer 50 years, then once Saban is dead and hailed as the greatest coach of all time, they will reopen the case, quietly of course, and review it all... Probably wind up as a slap on the wrist, but by that time they'll be the bama of the early 2000's again...

UT is now deep in the mix with Malik Brown, DE from Dwyer HS, FL. He's holding a presser at noon today - my prediction is he's coming to Knoxville :-)

Edit: OK, A little premature in my evaluation. He'll announce tomorrow at noon :-/
