After visiting Tennessee’s campus Wednesday for the first time, Andrew Gantz didn’t need long to decide he wanted to play for the Vols.
It didn’t matter to the senior kicker from Centerville High School in Dayton, Ohio, that he held a handful of scholarship offers from Division I schools. The opportunity to be a preferred walk-on at Tennessee was more tempting to Gantz, who committed to the Vols on Thursday.

Welcome to Big Orange Country!
Any news on any new commits.
Going to be hard to field a Sec caliber team with preferred walk-ons, which is all the news I've seen lately on recruits. Well at least they want to play here.

Levenberry the 4* LB was one of the most heralded recruits visiting this weekend.

Never seen this kid kick, but I am 100% certain he is better than the our returning "starter"

kickers can be very inconsistent from year to year. they all are. darr was #1 rated punter in country and palardy was highly ranked also (maybe #1) Actually palardy's numbers weren't too bad this past year.

Between Gantz and the preferred walk on from Temple who was being recruited by LSU, Kansas and A&M kicking game should be in good hands. Don't know the kids name but remember reading that he won the chris sailer event and was a heavily recruited transfer who came to the Bama game.
Should be able to make kicks past 40

Look him up on youtube. He kicks 60 yarders with ease

KNS 247 is weak because Wes Rucker is weak. I quit listening to 1180am out of Knoxville because he is just too annoying.

Hopefully one of the three kickers will come through for us and we'll have a kicking game worthy of Tennessee. G.B.O.!!!

Found this about the kicker:
On Thursday, the three-star kicker and No. 8 kicker in the country according to 247Sports, accepted a preferred walk-on offer to join Jones and his new staff at the University of Tennessee. He's also rated as high as No. 6 in the nation, and his highlight video shows him hitting 50, 55 and 60 yard field goals. He was a member of Chris Sailer Kicking "Event Elite" top 12 kicker as well
Gantz had an offer from Utah and other smaller schools. He is known for having a good, strong leg and a quick swing, which is something that has plagued Michael Palardy during his time at UT. Gantz will compete with Palardy and George Bullock for placekicking duties this next year and especially in the future. He is also an exceptional kickoff specialist.
According to Sailer's website:
"Andrew is an outstanding kicker. He is a great athlete that kicks with nice consistency. Field goals are near the top of his class and kickoffs are D1 ready. A fine young man with a great attitude and work ethic. Kicks well under pressure. Has all the tools to excel at the college level. Is going to be a fine college kicker. Great pick up for Tennessee."
That site gives him its highest classification of a five-star kicker.
