The ol "feel" poll. That's all you can come up with?

Except for the 5 that have signed, it's a moot point and question. Ask this Thursday morning...

I feel under the circumstances UT's class is solid so far, and with a 4* & 5* addition could end up a very good recruiting class.

According to the pundits, Auburn's new coach is kicking the phooey out of CJ's best coaching staff in the country. How do I feel about that? The question is, how will the administration feel about a half full stadium after the Florida game. Everyone associated with running the program needs to be replaced in my opinion. CJ looks like a coach but as I said earlier, the 1st measure will be how he stacks up in the recruiting race with the other new hires who have had the same amount of time to recruit as he's had. So far, it appears we are not in 1st place in that race. Give him time...well, ok, but this is the SEC and time may not help much if you don't have what it takes right out of the box. I wonder if Hart and the fans will give CJ 3 years to see if he's got what it takes to recruit and coach in the SEC?

Shake_Bake writes:

So far...average. Not horrible, but not great either. The addition of Bell and Levenberry would be very nice! But we won't know until Wednesday about those two. Unfortunately CBJ is in for a pretty tough first year, especially with that difficult schedule. I'm hoping for a 7-5 record, but we have to wait and see how it all plays out.

JordanGrindstaff writes:

If we get lawson and bell. I will be pretty excited! but our whole offensive line is about to leave so you better get some o-line recruits quick fast and in a hurry. also hurting at corner and rb after this year and if neal goes down were in trouble as well!

Let me respond, please, to you rpoll with this/these Question(s):

If you were a 5-star player, almost certain to be drafted into the Million### in the NFL,

with the right college coaching---

would you come to a place with this kind of turmoil---

where the best that the Administration can do is hire the coach from Cincinnati, whose teams were creamed by the coach UT fired?

Would you look at the resumes of the coaches in this group, if you were the parent of a 5-star, or even a 4-star,

and you know your son---if he stays healthy---and IF he gets the right coaching---will be set for life through Pro Ball---would YOU allow your son to sign a UT grant in aid with this group of coaches?

If your kid was a 6-9" 25 points-per-game basketball player...who has double doubles for the last three years in High School---and is a 5-star, or even 4-star, coming out of High School---would you allow that kid to sign with Martin of UT, after looking at what goes on on the floor, the bench and realizing that the guy in the dayglow blue suit and dreadlocks is going to be responsible for your son's conditioning---which is supposed to keep him healthy and perform at his peak---so he can be set for life, if he gets good coaching...because the NBA will draft him???

Well...would you??? How about you??

Thanks, Hart.
Thanks, Hamilton.
Thanks, Cheek.
Thanks President(s)-of-the-Week.

Lawson is going to Auburn. It's a done deal. For a DE we still have a shot at Miller and Bellemy. We just have to wait and see what they decide to do.

The best staff in the country will surely land a top ten class this year. With the late start I would settle for top fifteen.Lets see what happens with next years legacy class. It could be a top five class.

We were to get/have the best coaching staff in the nation according to Butch, so I can't wait to watch us knock it out of the ballpark on NSD!

We don't want Bellamy, he has a photo from his Oregon visit with a bong displayed on the coffee table and flashing gang signs..Straight from Thugs-R-Us..

It would be nice to feel like a Vandy fan right now. Aren't they top 20 in recruiting?

I meant this tongue-in-cheek, by the way. While I'm disappointed overall in the fact that the 5*s are saying thanks but no thanks, I am happy that after 3 losing seasons in a row, Butch is even able to get them to look this way. Next year will be better, but we gotta win more games this fall.

At the end of this season I hope to see all these board warrior experts and their 5* or go home predication's come back and tell me how many of your 5* flunk out of school, leave, quit, get kicked off teams. Then go down the rosters of all DIV 1 schools, look at all the 3* stars that stay, make good grades and actually make a start for their team.

This 5* stuff is so silly and ignorant, yep, ignorant. Your asking some desk jockey to grade a 17 year old kid and then you think that's a magic potion to some kind of success, yep, ignorant.

Unfortunately, this is the situation and is not destined to improve in the near future, disgusting facts but facts never the less, not a good time to be a Vol fan or a Vol, which I think is what you have done a good job stating. Not many 5 stars will likely be calling Knoxville home in the near future.

You are absolutely right this 5 star phooey is the most ridiculous thing in college football and the reason Bama is not competitive. No 5 stars on Nick's team, no sir, and that is the reason everyone will pony up to the bar and kiss your butt when you are proven right.

I was going to ask this poster if he would be willing to trade recruiting classes with bama..but I think you handled it better..unfortunately..5 stars do matter..

I think Auburn had a top ten class lined up before firing Gene..some left and came back after the new coach..with Auburn background ..was hired..and some may have been added due to being familiar with new assistants..

FWBVol writes:

Ask me in three or four years how I feel about this class. In 2009 I was very excited about the class the current USC coach assembled while he was working for Tennessee, but by 2010 I wasn't getting the warm fuzzies about the class.

One of the reasons behind Auburn's current recruiting success might stem from the relationships the previous staff had with coaches in the state of Alabama. Dooley's staff apparently didn't do a good job of working with the coaches in Tennessee. Butch Jones and his staff have spent a large part of the recruiting season building the relationships with high school coaches that were ignored by Dooley.

Even if Jones misses on a lot of the high-star guys, he has gotten Tennessee back in the conversation with them.

I think we will get Bell and there are always one or two surprises in every class. If we end up with a Top 20 class this year Jones will have been successful.

When we have a good season next year it will pay off on the recruiting trail next year.

But as I said at the start of this post, ask me in a few years what I think of this class.

Shake_Bake writes:

E J Levenberry will annouce his decision tonight,...so we won't have long to wait until we find out if he chooses Tennessee. We could really use some early momentum going into the NSD, so I hope we get him!
