The skinny: Johnson committed to Auburn during the summer, but quickly switched to Tennessee when linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen and defensive backs coach Willie Martinez joined Butch Jones' staff from Auburn. Johnson wanted to enroll early, which is one of the reasons he defected from Auburn. He could be a candidate to get a look on special teams immediately, although the safety position could be tougher to crack.
