Malik Brown
Defensive end, 6-3, 250
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (Dwyer)
247 Composite Rankings
Three stars
No. 979 overall
No. 39 weakside defensive end
No. 140 prospect in Florida
The skinny: Brown was prepared to venture from South Florida to Syracuse when he started getting late attention from Tennessee and others. A last-weekend visit to Knoxville sealed the deal, and he announced he would sign with the Vols on Signing Day. Brown might need to bulk up a bit before pushing for playing time, but Tennessee may have the luxury to redshirt some defensive linemen if necessary.

I understand that we missed on higher ranked prospects. But whos to say that this kid wont hit the weights and turn out to be a GREAT player? All these ranking services go on measurables. But, what about HEART?
There are kids that are 5 stars and have all the hoopla and dont pan out. I will take a kid like this who has a chip on his should and has a great motor any day. Because you can teach technique and all that, but you cant teach HEART.
Hope he comes in a proves he belongs in the SEC.
