Really hard to even guess on this one. The Def is going to be much better because we are returning to the 4-3 and these players were pretty good at that formation. The Rec's from last year weren't bad either. The young ones were just kept on the bench to give the big players makers a real chance.
Freshmen rarely make a significant impact. Sometimes a stud RB takes the league by storm. Once in a while a freshman QB will start and finish with nice stats. A freshman WR, LB or DL might contribute. But don't expect a freshman to be 3rd team All-SEC. It could happen, but look for a JC transfer at a position of need to make the biggest contribution.

i say the incoming WR. north. we're already good at QB with 2 good/great ones. and defensively we're straight, and it's hard for a new defensive player to come in and get enough playing time to make more of a difference than the players already in place. that, and we're losing 2 stud WRs, and also another WR to graduation, so...

Lets see, we are already good at QB...really! What makes you say that? Defensively we are straight, you have got to be kidding. Our defense was horrible last year especially our DBs were less than good and that is being kind. On top of all this you bring in a new staff on offense and defense. This is the kind of pie in the sky expectations that make me sick. Two good/great QB's which two are you talking about? Let this thing begin with the spring and see who steps up. We are unproven on offense and defense to say the least. We do have some good OL players returning and that is a good place to start but no RB no proven QB or WR is not good. The defense has experience but no real success to speak of. We have a couple of good LB but the back end is weak. Dude we have a lot of work!
84, what a great, classic, negatron post. You da man. Worley, Gatorade National player of the year, Peterman, No. 1 QB prospect in Florida in 2011. The two running backs, Lane and Neal, combined for 1366 yards last year. Did I say you are a doltz? Defensive line, Vols have best nose tackle in the SEC and Smith and Williams will benefit greatly from going back to 4-3 front. Please find another hobby. Your absolute negativity is really tedious and boring.

w12, I agree with your sentiment toward 84 but he has a point on this line; our very good qbs are somewhat untested. How did Justin Worley do when he was forced into the lineup? Yes he has some games under his belt thankfully. But that was with a completely different scheme. So we do have work to do and a lot merely because while the Vols were not moving forward other SEC teams were and some in huge strides. It is not negamania to realize we have our work cut out for us. Along with you, however, I am more hopeful than 84 in his postaneg about all things Vol football. I believe they will be good, play hard and show vast improvement from recent years.

wagee12, I believe you've mistaken 84's realism for negativity. I hate negative posts too, but c'mon man !!! Our D was disgusting and embarrassing last year and that's putting it lightly. Going back to the 4-3 will help, but it's not a guarantee. I think Worley or Peterman can be solid, but our backs need to step it up big time ! We were near the very bottom of the SEC in rushing & not because we wanted to pass, but because we had to pass ! I hope you're right, but only the spring will tell.
Nothing sucks likes posters on these boards. Know it alls with nothing better to do than run the vols into the ground. If you have nothing informative to say just stay away. It's a game, enjoy it.

CBJ! His rookie season will definitely be the most important. As he goes, so does the rest of the team!

FanintheBoro,
Exactly. As for the troll alert, we can go ahead and put this clown on the alert list. When you see him, know what to expect.

orangecounty, I don't know if there are more trolls or negavols on this site but there are plenty of both
