Florida lineman Jessamen Dunker charged with stealing scooter

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Police say a University of Florida offensive lineman has been charged with stealing a scooter.

Campus police say redshirt freshman Jessamen Dunker was arrested Wednesday and charged with vehicle theft, a third-degree felony. They say he also was charged with driving with a suspended license.

Maj. Brad Barber says an officer observed Dunker tailgating a campus maintenance truck Wednesday morning. After seeing that Dunker's scooter didn't have a license plate, the officer pulled him over. During the stop, the officer learned that Dunker's license was suspended and the scooter had been reported stolen.

Dunker was being held in jail with no bail set. It wasn't clear if Dunker had an attorney.

UF athletic association spokesman Steve McClain says Coach Will Muschamp is aware of the arrest and will address it when he returns from a recruiting trip.

Watch out boys, he may be available soon. We won't have to worry about him in Knoxville - there aren't that many scooters.

What is it about drunk Gators and scooters? This story has an echo of a couple years ago. I doubt that he stole it. Any UF footballer is naturally stupid, and one in his cups doubly so. But a drunk gator going for a spin on a scooter seems to be a common impulse down there.

Oh thanks 8thgradeinarow for the classy veh hom mention. That was very classy for a chomper fan...sin is sin dude. The ramifications on earth are varying with the offense. Personally I'm not happy when a VOL or chomper gets arrested. Sad as that is someone's child. Hope and pray they learn their lesson(s) b4 greater harm occurs.

Fight on! Dozen or so Trojans involved in post-bowl altercation
Posted by John Taylor on January 16, 2013, 8:52 AM EST
APA 2012 season that began with high expectations for preseason No. 1 USC was filled with nothing but deflating disappointment, littered with frustration both on and off the field throughout.

Reportedly, that frustration came to a head at season’s end.

According to Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News, 10-15 players were involved in a postgame “altercation” following the Trojans’ embarrassing Sun Bowl loss to Georgia Tech. The locker-room brouhaha, which wasn’t specifically described as physical by Wolf, came after a lethargic performance in which a sizable portion of the team seemed disinterested in the program’s first postseason appearance in two years and sleepwalked through the 21-7 loss to the seven-loss Yellow Jackets.

“It was one of the worst things I’ve seen in a locker room,” an unidentified player told Wolf in regards to the postgame scene.

Oddly enough, it was the younger players reportedly chastising the older ones that appears to be the impetus for the situation, with Wolf writing “some freshmen questioned the leadership of the team’s seniors and whether they gave 100 percent effort for the Sun Bowl.” Witnesses told Wolf that this questioning led to an argument that then escalated.

On the one hand, if it was indeed the freshmen lashing out against players, even veterans, half-assing it through a game, that would appear to bode well for the future of a Trojans football program mired in mediocrity under Lane Kiffin. On the other hand, it’s yet another check mark next to the box that reads “Program Out of Control Under Kiffin,” with those who want the current head coach to become the former head coach — and that number is growing — armed with yet another data point to make an argument that’s becoming easier by the day.

Kiffin will enter the 2013 season on the hottest of proverbial hot seats. Thanks to situations like the above that seem to invariably crop up with some degree of regularity when Kiffin’s in charge, it doesn’t appear there’ll be a cold front coming through anytime soon.

Was expected to compete for starting LG spot. Kid supposedly has tons of potential. Muschamp hasn't been one to mess around with bs penalties for kids who get in trouble. An example was when he booted arguably the best cb in the country at the time, Janoris Jenkins, off the team.

I'm sure he'll at least miss some games, as he should. On the whole, the program has been much better of late under Champ than it was under Meyer. These kind of events seemed like they were happening about every other week before Muschamp took over.

But make no mistake about it, my friend, UF makes it 9 straight next year with or without Dunk.

Just got off the phone with your mom. She said everything was going ok down there in the projects where you guys live. She said to tell you to hurry home. You need to babysit her other 12 kids while she goes to stand out on the street corner. She said she made some chicken for dinner. She had to use the rest of her food stamps.
