Aggies add 2 to football coaching staff

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Texas A&M has hired Jake Spavital as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and Jeff Banks as special teams and tight ends coach.

Spavital comes to College Station to replace Kliff Kingsbury, who left to become Texas Tech's coach. Spavital spent the last two seasons coaching quarterbacks at West Virginia. Before that he worked at UTEP with coach Mike Price.

Banks will replace Brian Polian, who left to become coach at Nevada. Banks comes from UTEP, where he was in charge of special teams and running backs.

Coach Kevin Sumlin still has one spot to fill on his staff. He is looking to replace linebackers coach Matt Wallerstedt, who left to become Kingsbury's defensive coordinator at Texas Tech.
