Tennessee is ranked No. 6 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 preseason poll released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Defending national champion Alabama is No. 1, followed by Oklahoma, California, Arizona State and Oregon.
"I think this team expects to win," co-head coach Karen Weekly said in a UT release. "I don't think this team is going to look at the rankings and that's going to change anything about their expectations coming into the season. This team wants to win. This team wants to perform better than it did at the end of the year last year, and they expect to. That's what we want here at Tennessee and that's what we strive for every year."
Missouri, Georgia and LSU took spots 8-10 with Florida at No. 14 and Texas A&M at No. 17.
The Lady Vols will host its annual "Meet Your Seats" with the fans at Lee Stadium on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. There will be an autograph signing by players starting at 2.
