GoVols247: Tennessee adds four-star receiver Booth

Indianapolis (Ind.) Pike four-star receiver Dominique Booth has been a silent commitment to Tennessee for about a month now.

On Friday, the future Vol went public with his college decision.

The 22nd pledge for first-year coach Butch Jones and his staff, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Booth made it official with several of his Pike teammates with him at Tennessee’s camp in Knoxville. He is the 11th four-star to give Jones and company his word.

True some of these comments have been 3 stars but three stars turn into four stars during their senior year and really are these coaches need are coachable guys that wish to be at TENN.
As someone said on another thread who was the first pick in the NFL draft by KC; a player from Butch Jones at Central Mich. This group of coaches won't turn it around immediately but I like the direction it looks like their headed!!! Go BIG ORANGE!!!! This year is going to be brutal (schedule) and next year we drop Oregon and pick up Oklahoma. Keep recruiting it will happen!!!!

This is unbelievable the pace this staff is recruiting. 22 commits so far already equaling the total for 2013..Outstanding!

This stuff just continues to roll. Can't wait to get up each morning to see who the next one is. Got to admit I was not real excted about the coaching hire at first, but he sure has made a believer out of me. Still has to coach em up but he just continues to impress with his attitude toward the players, fans and best of all the big "O". might be tuff this year but don't be surprised if he pulls off a few headaches for the rest of the league. Go CBJ.

I believe we have 4 good to very good QB's. I wonder if Josh Malone wants to be part of something really special.

with the announcement of all the receivers that have committed you would think that a lot of the top quarterbacks would definitely consider coming to Vol Country. As the first post said this thing is getting serious.

I would hope that the class Butch Jones is assembling for next year will silence the critics who have been saying that he has been living off Brian Kelly's recruits since he has taken over Kelly's teams at C/Michigan & UC.

Anyone with half a brain must realize that Brian Kelly didn't recruit all the guys that played for him at those two schools. In fact, CBJ and his assistants most likely did the yeoman's work in getting those guys to come to those schools.

Then, they did the day-to-day coaching that resulted in the great record that Kelly rode to the Notre Dame job. Now that CBJ is his own man in a top BCS program, let's see who the real brains were behind Kelly's promotion to ND.

From what I heard on the radio today, UT went after Booth because they did not have a good shot at Malone. Too bad because he was a TN boy and is probably faster than Mr. Booth (could not find Booth's 40 time, but Malone's was listed at 4.49), but both are 4 stars.

This makes 12, more than half the commitments, as 4 or better stars. With the 7 or 8 slots that are left, I am rooting for the Berry twins, the defensive tackle team mate of Rocket Wharton, the 5 star cornerback out of the WashDC area (I think), and the rest as 4 or 5 star defensive linemen and LBs.

Hopefully the rest of the SEC will be wanting to keep up with the Joneses.

Before you get to excited, they can sign 25. They can bring in another 3 or so at the mid term so about 28 total. They have 22 committed. Of the 22,

2 are offensive lineman and they are 3 stars for what that is worth. Neither have any big time offers.

They have zero defensive lineman.

This is a line of scrimmage league. This year will be horrible. Next season will be horrific and with no lineman he will be fired in 4 years.

Get in where you fit in Tenn football. You where winning 10 games per year on average and you will be lucky to have a single 10 win season in the next 25.

This is a far cry from Dooley's recruiting. Dooley's was nowhere close to this in any year. I doubt this year is going to be any better than most predictions: 6 and 6 or 7 and 5. But if Butch can keep this type of recruiting going, things look bright for 2 to 3 years from now. Can't expect overnight success. That would be unrealistic. Unlike Vicky Volz, we'll give him a chance to succeed and judge in a couple of years.

Good idea to expect no more than a well coached team that don't quit till it's over..as for recruiting..need to finish it off with some guys who can compete in the SEC line play on offense and defense..

Well, with 22 commits CBJ has already equaled CDD's total 2013 class which CBJ's actually finished. Also the 2015 & 2016 classes are on pace ahead of Dooley's 2013 class. CBJ's is not only a great recruiter, he has assembled a staff of great recruiters.

For the trolls (ZZ, 7Teeth, etc). Based on the rivals list, the following linemen and linebackers have been committed:

UT - 8
Ala. - 8
Ole Miss - 6
LSU - 4
Vandy - 7
Fl. - 6
Aub. - 5

So it appears UT is in the lead even in the SEC for the so-called grunts. We are also signing a significantly higher number of skill players. UT is still on the list for 3-5 of the rivals 5* players, so there is still a lot of skill out there to be had.

Of the remaining 10 - 12 players that UT will commit, most will be 4 * players and possibly a couple of 5 stars. In the end, I expect UT will be top 3 in the SEC, which is not bad for Jones' first year.

thevoice writes:

The one quote I remember from Jones when he was hired, "We're going to hire the best coaching staff in the country." So far so good. It's really hard to imagine this coaching staff being superstar recruiters but not able to coach. If we get good QB play come mid-October, I see good things happening.

jhayes0926#638474 writes:

Don't know where ZZ had math class, but according to Rivals, only 27 of the top 50 remain uncommitted. Of the top 100, there are 48 uncommitted. UT will get a fair share of these.

Exactly..And with possibly 13 more scholarships to utilize it's conceivable to think UT may lap the field with 4* or 5* athletes.
