Four-star rising senior linebacker Kevin Mouhon of Norcross (Ga.) High School announced Sunday that he has committed to Tennessee.

Kevin Mouhon has held Tennessee in high regard since getting his first scholarship offer from the Vols more than seven months ago, just two days after the hiring of first-year coach Butch Jones.

Little did he know then that he would end up choosing Tennessee.

.........yes. Maybe the Berry twins and a couple of big uglies for defense like Barett and Ford??

SteelerNation writes:

Would love to have the Berry twin but if they are still not committed at this point I say move on. OL/DL is our only priority from here on out. Malone and the Berry's have had every chance to be part of special and decided to wait. Sorry but your spots have been taken. GO BIG ORANGE!!!

why should they be any more special and wanted than other options of comparable skill who are more excited to commit early---i wouldnt let others get away for Berry committments no guarrantee of even happening later----if they considered us special cause of EB then they would be committed also now

The Berry twins are not jacking anyone around. They understandibly are taking their time to make their own decisions based on their own criteria. Don't go off on them for that. They haven't played a down yet as high school seniors. As for me, I sure hope they do decide soon to join Kevin Mouhon and the four others who comitted this week to join the VOLS. They already are part of the Volunteer Football Family because of Eric. Let's just hope they decide to join their big bro and make Tennessee the school where they continue the family tradition of great football.

i personally wouldnt consider anyone who choses to play elsewhere when given an opportunity here part of the family just by association--------is Eli Manning part of our family???????

You snooze you lose. Vols have committments from 4-4 star DB's in this class. Don't know how many they want in this class. Berry twins could get left out if they don't go ahead and board this BIG ORANGE LOCOMOTIVE. ALL ABOARD!

We are in dire need of some OL's so lets not forget Alex Bars of Nashville MBA. I don't think he has committed anywhere yet. Also as previously mentioned we could use some DL's to fill out this class. IMO

I read somewhere earlier where someone posted a concern that a 4-8 or 5-7 season might cause some verbal commitments to change their minds. It's an interesting thought. I think that CBJ is selling the turnaround beginning in earnest in 2014. Besides, 6-6 or 7-5 isn't out of the question in '13.

Right on target BB ! How sweet it is! GBO!

MetroplexMojo writes:

As long as UT gets bowl eligible, they should keep most of the class intact (see Ole Miss last yr). If they go 4-8, then you will see some defections. That's one reason I think UK's class will falter down the stretch.

onetruevol706 writes:

Don't forget that Eric isn't the only link the Berry twins have to UT. Their dad was a Vol also. That said I wouldn't worry too much about numbers a 2 or 3 kids will flip. Jones will flip a kid or two also and early entry guys will count against last years numbers.

tractoronthepole writes:

The Berry Twins are great athletes with exceptional speed. Just because EB played DB dosen't mean both of these boys can only play DB. I would however love to see these guys commit now and can't wait to see them excel here at UT! Proud of CBJ recruiting efforts!

Voltransplant writes:

If I understand correctly one of the Berry twins is being recruited as a corner back and the other is being recruited as a linebacker. The one being recruited as a linebacker is a 4* and the one being recruited as a corner back is a 3*.

Yep, and number 1 in just about every recruiting service except ESPN.

SoFlaVol writes:

I like the commits we have at LB. An elte QB and a couple of 4* DL and OL, and we are set. Personally, I don't expect many of these commitments to switch because I think our coaches have sold them on being the class that puts UT back on top, therefore a poor season this year has little or no effect. IMHO.

Alex Bars has been committed to Notre Dame and our former OL coach Harry Hiestand for months. I doubt he will be turned, loves the Irish.

Agreed, I saw where Malone said UT probably wouldn't be in his top five. He is very good, but I think we will be fine without him.

ColdBlackWind writes:

Get on board or get left behind. The CBJ train is leaving the station.....well er...except the 6-4, 285 guys that run 4.5's and the 6-6" 300 guys that like to clear the road. The conductor will pause a moment for you. The twins need to believe. We will leave the horses outside the stadium if that is hereditary. Go Vols!

It's his confidence and world class facilities/history backing him up. At no other program he coached did he have such facilities and conference ties to recruit athletes and he still won a lot of games. He's got a plan and athletes are buying into it..GBO!!

I remember when "Phil" lost out on DT Marvin Austin from NC. 1st or 2nd DT that yr. That was @ the time we had a hard time landing the Haynesworth types needed for title runs.

Dude above does make a good point @ linemen. Gotta have the elite there or SEC/NCs are basically not attainable. That being said, if Butch can recruit like Fulmer did the 1st half of his tenure and basically 1/2 the years in the last half, then he will see a title or two and long term employment.

Here is a big welcome to the newest 6 Vols. If someone had told me 6 months ago that we might be more interested in commitments from 3 star DT's and OL's than the Berry's and Malone I would thought I was having a nightmare. Now it almost makes sense.

At least one of the Berrys is a LB, and probably both. The Vols can still use LBS. Also there is always room for a 5 star cb, and UT has at least one, and maybe two on the radar. And, oh, if Josh Malone wants to commit, I cannot see him being turned down. However, even if the Vols get all 4 of those, there would still be room for Ford and Barrett and, maybe one more.

Notre Dame, darn it. I played football back in the dark ages for a high school with a mascot that would have given Alex a natural fan base - the Boones Creek Bars. Yep, Bars (you know, D.Boone cilled a Bar).

Oher's foster parents had ties to the school he attended. He felt he owed them loyalty and helped repay what they had done for him.

Phil did not let too many good players from NC escape to elsewhere in the SEC. Say what you will, but Phil rarely failed on the recruiting trail (sorry about the rhyme).

Yeah, Phil lost out on Austin and you should be glad. You do recall the problem that Austin caused his school and the guy who "won" that recruiting battle, don't you?

We hardly missed you, Jeffy.

Are all these commitments gonna be on campus to play this fall, or is this "number one" recruiting class truly for the 2014-2015 season? Did Coach Jones get any good recruits for this 2013 upcoming football season, or will most of these news guys be Dooley recruits?

Oh, boy......

Look up at the banner at the top of the page. See where it says "Recruiting"? Click on it, and you'll see "Football Recruiting Lists". Click on that, and then "2013" and, voila, you'll see the recruits that will be suiting up in this fall. Very few of them are "Dooley recruits".

The class that we're getting all these oral commitments on is the class of 2014 -- kids who will be HS seniors (or JC players) this fall.

I think the Berrys are taller than that, but I also remember Alvin Toles. I would take him at 19.
