Tennessee signee Felecia Majors was named Gatorade Virginia Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
Majors is now a finalist for the national award to be announced next week.
Majors led South County High School in Lorton, Va., to the Group AAA state title.
She competed in seven individual events at the state meet, Majors won the 400 meters in 53.65 seconds and placed in the top four in six of the seven events. She finished second in the 200, pole vault and long jump; third in the triple jump; fourth in the 100 and ninth in the high jump.
The award recognizes athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the track.
Majors also maintained a 3.21 grade-point average in the classroom.
