University of Tennessee signee Teleri Hughes won the Bridgestone Golf/Brandt Snedeker Music City Junior at Richland Country Club in Nashville on Thursday.
Hughes, a Farragut High product and the 2012 PrepXtra Girls Golfer of the Year, finished the three-day event 5-over-par 221.
After starting the day two strokes out of the lead, her final-round 73 was the best in the field and gave her a five-stroke victory over Brooke Graebe (Yorba Linda, Calif.) in the American Junior Golf Association tournament.
Sophia Schubert of Oak Ridge tied for eighth at 238.
Lipscomb Academy’s Dawson Armstrong won the boys’ division by two shots at 4-under 212.
Wickenden Leads Rodgers at Match Play: Belmont University senior Elliott Wickenden made seven birdies for a back-nine score of 30 en route to a 6-under 66 and a three-shot lead after the first round of the Tennessee Match Play Championship at Nashville Golf & Athletic Club.
Wickenden leads Tennessee senior Brandon Rodgers and Scott Stevens of Chattanooga.
Grant Daugherty, a UT sophomore from Alcoa, is five shots behind at 71, along with Powell’s Todd Burgan.
Stroke-play qualifying continues Friday, after which the field will be cut to the top 16 players, eight for seniors. Match-play matches will be Saturday and Sunday.
