Selection Sunday is now less than two weeks away and the SEC should start averting its eyes. After last weekend, much of the conference is acting like it doesn’t want anything to do with the bracket.
The four teams with the most to lose did exactly that on Saturday — lose. Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Alabama all went on the road and got beat.
Take note, guys: You can’t back into the bracket.
Or maybe you can. Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com kept UT and Kentucky in his projected bracket despite their losses. Joe Lunardi of ESPN actually bumped the Vols off the bubble and onto his bracket while also including Kentucky and Ole Miss as teams that would make it but would be subjected to play-in games.

We've always beat up on each other in the SEC. All sports. Any let up is a loss...pretty much. At home or on the road you can't have a lazy night and expect to win. I'm NOT saying UT was lazy. BUT we were out hustled by Georgia. They played much better defense. We had no offense other than McRae. I'm not saying like some that we can't get in the tourney. Right now no ones deserves to be in except Florida which is I guess what the articles is about.

Whether or not they should be..the SEC will have at least 3..maybe 4 teams in the big show..UT has a good chance which is a total surprise to me..after losing to Ga..but how could anyone ever imagine Ole Miss losing to Miss State..to me..that is the worst loss I have ever heard of in college basketball..it is hard for me to imagine a coach in the position Martin is in with Golden..having to hope he shows up so you have a chance to win is nonsense..I like Martin..but he should have got him a Jr College point guard before this year started and we wouldn't be having this discussion..but since we are..let Golden look at the replays of the Ga, Fla, and A & M games and ask him which Golden is gonna show up for Auburn and Mizzu..

3-5 on the road in the SEC is historically not bad. Usually that would put you in the mix near the top. What hurt us (record wise) were the home losses.
I'm thinking that if Ole Miss misses the tourney, Andy Kennedy may be done.

Watching SEC bb is like watching Big East fb in Nov.... The kids play hard and it is what it is.

When you lose and go from projecting out of tournament to in the tournament just shows there are not enough good teams to fill out the bracket. Some talking heads actually want to increase the number of entrants and expand the tournament. Think that tournament would be watered down at all? Bottom line is TN is not a great basketball team and they certainly have their faults, but getting into the big dance is very exciting and the ride is fantastic if wins happen. TN, Ole Miss, KY, Bama, all of the SEC teams on the bubble...it is not very realistic to think any can make a sweet 16 run, but this is the world we live in on who qualifies or not. To say they are not worthy could be accurate for some past tournaments, but certainly not this one.

Slimer, you are one POS reporter..The SEC has been totally maligned this year and the statistics bear the truth..The SEC has more top 100 RPI teams than any other conference except for the Big East. So, yes tucky is down (big whoop) they can't win every year..I don't care how much they cheat, that's impossible. Indiana, MSU and Michigan all have had bad losses, so does this mean they stink?? Only out of the mouth of an idiot like Climer, and of course the ESPN agenda squad..BB is down nationally, because of the one&dones and prodigy athletes like LeBron James. The NBA has more to do with this than the SEC needing to be better. Right now, I could pick players from the SEC: O'Bryant, Pope, Pressley, Noel, McRae and Turner and light up anybody in the country. There is plenty of bb talent in the SEC, they're mostly just very young and under-appreciated by the national media.

I haven't ruled Tenn out yet. I have high hopes that they will break the SEC tourney jinx this year & do very well. Why not? Every other crazy thing has happened in basketball this year.

Used to be 7-8 SEC teams in the 'big dance', but quality of play has really fallen off. Even the big blue mist has evaporated. Vols will have to win the tournament to get in IMO.

Gomer comes up with a PUN. I wonder how long he had to think about SEC-ond. Gomer, go back the last ten years, list the National Champs and their conferences. Then list the teams making the "sweet 16" with their conferences. Do you ever do any kind of research on your articles? How about wins and loses by SEC teams against non-conference teams. Why don't you move back to Johnson City. I hear that Poor Richard's Deli is looking for a waiter. You and the Weedeater in Chattanooga just keep pulling things out of your bodies' orifices.

Yeah, the Rebs will be in some serious trouble next year after losing Buckner and Holloway, the #1 and #3 ranked active career rebounders in the conference--not 1 and 3 all-time, just 2 of the top three currently playing, still pretty darned good. They are also good shot blockers. They will REALLY be missed. If you think they rode Henderson THIS year....

Yes, the grass is always greener to everyone. I know the SEC has had a great tournament record over the past 5 years and has a great record over the last 25 years. In fact, only one conference (ACC by 1) has more National Titles than the SEC. Every year they say the same garbage and the SEC kicks butt in tournament and the ACC rarely gets anyone out of the first weekend. Certainly no one not named UNC or Duke.

I don't know how many times this year on sports shows everywhere talking about how how much parity there was in NCAA basketball...that would lead me to believe that all conferences are down, so where is the news?

Climer either swallowed a lit cigar or forgot to bring his Pepto Bismol with him today. Either way, grab the Culligan man to see if he can water down this seared throat or relieve an ulcerated stomach. This man is in too much pain to have time to write an informed piece.

There are several conferences that are poor this year besides the SEC. About 15 different teams are actually on the bubble and can get in this thing. Stay tuned for an interesting 10 days.

Actually when you look at the stats RPI,SOS,top50,top100 wins and losses its not real hard to see why Lunardi bumped up the Vols chances after what happened this past weekend.
As for this article, its just Climber blowing smoke because he isnt getting enough attention these days. Probably didnt make his paper route quota.
