Don't like pulling for KY..but I do hope they meet the Lady Vols in the finals..

If TN can learn to take care of the ball, and throw quick short passes, they should be able to pull this off. Need good guard play.

I hope to see these two go at again on a neutral floor with all the starters healthy. And a better group of officials. There are some really good teams standing in the way of that meeting. No easy road for either team.

Good comments from all so far. Winning the tournament after winning the regular-season championship would be a huge feather in Holly's cap and a tremendous accomplishment from what many thought was a declining program--at least prematurely if not totally wrongly. Lots of good teams are going to be battling for their post-season hopes, so it won't be easy but it CAN be done! GO LVs!!! GO HOLLY!!! TCB!!!

I'm not a betting person but I bet a Hundred dollars it won't come done to Tn vs. Ky - just too many teams waiting for their chance. Of course, counting the home team Georgia. I think Duluth is about 20 miles from Athens. We should hold the tournament in Maryville, another "neutral" site.
I watched the Diane Sawyer show with Robin and Pat. Looking forward to getting the book.

I think this is foolish.
A&M was a HUGE task for the LV's at HOME.
How in the living hell can you overlook them, especially as UT won't have fresh legs??
A&M has the advantage. They rely on power, not speed.
Then, get past A&M, and, gee, here we are again, with a fresh, deep UK team playing a worn-down UT team.
How ya think that will go??
Unfair expectations to expect this team of basically walking wounded to take 3 games in 3 days.
VFL70 writes:
Depth does not bode well for LVs if they reach the final (3 games in 3 days).

Doesnt sound like you have too much faith in the Lady Vols! I think UT, UK and A&M are the 3 best teams in the SEC this year, with GA and SC close behind. FL and LSU arent bad either. Whoever wins the tourney will have earned it!

It doesnt matter where they hold the SEC Women's Tournament, the majority of fans will be in orange. Just like KY blue for the mens. UGA should be ashamed for their lack of support for their women's BB team! It could be played in Athens, and we'd still have more fans than them!
I wish theyd move the tourney back to Chattanooga. Great venue, great location!

"Faith" doesn't much enter into the basketball equation.
Regardless, to me it seems folks are way quick to forget this team is a bit of a blue-collar mix that's used some smoke and mirrors and grit to get by this season.
They are actually BETTER suited for the NCAA than they are the SEC tourney.
johnlg00 writes:
Why would UK necessarily be fresher for the championship game than UT? They have to run and press to beat most teams. They do play more players, but they run more than most teams do when they are in. If the LVs are really hitting in an earlier game or two, they may be able to rest some players and back off the throttle a bit. I agree that the odds are probably less than even to win it all if everybody isn't healed up, but it isn't impossible.
Gotta say, though, that I just don't get why Nia Moore and Jasmine Philips didn't play AT ALL that I noticed in the UK game. I guess the fear was that they would get rattled by UK's pressure and all, but I don't see how they could have been MORE rattled than the regulars looked most of the game, and they would be that much more prepared for the SEC tourney if they are needed then.
johnlg00 writes:
I agree. Despite my comment above, this team just isn't built to EXCEL in three games in three days. That doesn't mean they can't do it, just that it would be REALLY hard for them. In the NCAAs, there is always a day off between games, they only play two games a week, and most games are on neutral courts to which all the teams must travel.

My analysis is predicated on that both UK and A&M "physical" a lot of their points, rather than "skill" those points. Yes, they do have some skill, too, but they are content to bust your head.
Who do they sound like?? Old Summitt teams.
basically, though, at least personally, I'm setting moderate expectations out of the tourney, and expressing them here in hopes it may temper at least a BIT of criticism of the program should they not win....
Probably a quixotic effort at best.
well,anyway, enjoyed your comments, john.

It wouldn't shock me to see a final that did not include either UT or Ky. A&M seems to be a bit worn out too.
LSU really seemed to be peaking at the right time, think the Paicience (sp?) kid is very good. Also, Vandy's seniors are highly motivated and if they start hitting threes they are always dangerous.
For all the teams it is the start of a new season so everyone will be pumped, should be fun.
If we have Izzy and Kamicko back a full strength I strike the above comments and say we win it.

Yeah VU is danger.
And thanks for reminding me of LSU. That big girl, the coach's daughter, is a fine player.
I know it's a bit hopeless on our parts to try to get fans to just "enjoy" no matter what.....and I know I'll get pissed at the ones who I feel criticize unfairly.
To be honest, though, I just hope they get a decent NCAA bracket.
johnlg00 writes:
No problem. I don't really disagree with anything you said. It WILL be tough for the LVs to win the SEC tournament, mainly because they may not have the depth and physicality to win three tough games in three days. That is no slam on them or the coaches, as some soreheads will no doubt make it out to be if they DON'T win it. That won't stop them from doing well in the NCAAs, depending on who they play and how healthy they are going in. I enjoy your comments as well!
johnlg00 writes:
Yep, tournament time is a whole new season for everybody. Always LOVE me some tourney time! The name of the LSU kid is Plaisance, French for "pleasure" or "enjoyment"; wouldn't be a big surprise if she was a Cajun, though, would it?

I vote 150% for Chattanooga.

Believe it or not . I think the lady Vols will have home court advantage. Our fans travel well and I know I'm taking a long lunch break to go watch my girls play tomorrow. I work in Gwinnett so I can't wait.
