A handful of Tennessee players changed positions before the start of spring practice, shoring up depth at some positions and creating needs at others.
Tennessee has 67 players currently on scholarship (or 70, if you count players who are on scholarship status only for this semester). If all goes as planned, Tennessee will welcome 16 newcomers this summer, bringing the scholarship total to 83, two players below the NCAA maximum of 85.
Check out the complete scholarship breakdown by class, position, and experience on the blog.

Keep it going CBJ I like the way you are starting out,and that's what we need a head coach with energy that knows about football...GBO.

With these legacy guys starting to commit, don't you just know that ol' Jeffie's panties are bunching up?

Just as in baseball, it's all rosey during the Spring, and I'm optimistic. Looks good so far, and I am encouraged by what I see and hear from Coach Jones.
Going to be a brutal schedule though, and I'm sure they're optimistic in Gainesville, Athens, Baton Rouge as well.
Let's stay behind our Vols, and keep moving forward!!
murrayvol writes:
83! Another dozen or so and we'll be closing in on Bama.
SummittsCourt writes:
Depth! Something the Vols haven't had in a long time!

Yep; what you got now plus what you're going to get equals what you are going to have.
Sounds about right, KNS; thanks.

I don't care who you are thaz funny rat thar!!
Always nice to see others bag on the simpleton reporting of KNS other than myself.
Yes, I understand I am biting the hand that feeds me in that KNS sponsors this board and here I am (among others) bagging on them. But really, you've got to admit, more often than not it's amateur hour around here with the writing.
SevenT writes:
Jones is going to win with players recruited by Dooley.
Just shows that UT does not stand behind their coaches. Jones will fall by the axe just like Fulmer and Dooley.
Enough Said
MooseandSquirrelVol writes:
Well, we agree at least that jones will win with players recruited by Dooley.
But that's better than Dooley would do.
By the way, how's that UK man Joker Phillips doing this spring?

Wuts up punk? They kick you off the Ky board again? Idiot.

7T you do know what they did with false prophets in Old Testament days right? Oh BTW someone asked you in another thread if katts had a web site and why you don't purr with your comrades. We know not to take you seriously as your only porpoise is too stir the pot(not smoke it). Tell'em Flipper....
On topic, congrats coach on a good start with practice.."man I'm talking practice". Interesting that Legacy players committing early. Someone said three...I've got Kelly,Creamer, and who am I missing?

Vic Wharton, nephew of Brandon Wharton, I think.

Vic Wharton of Thompson’s Station, Tenn., the nephew of former Vols basketball player Brandon Wharton.
MooseandSquirrelVol writes:
You think right.
MooseandSquirrelVol writes:
I'm from Memphis and usually I'd say you're right.
But for now, they're just bunching.
They won't be really in a wad untill Dillon Bates and the Berry twins commit.
When that happens, old Jeffy will know what wadded means.
voloffaith writes:
Thanks to both gents! Brandon, not that it matters, appeared to be African-American . Vic appears to be caucasian. Maybe the old eyes ain't seeing it right. As I said, it really doesn't matter either way to me.

Seven T: Is that your IQ or the number of teeth you have. CBJ is going to win (it will not happen overnight) period. Dooley may have recruited some of the players but it is obvious he could not coach them, CBJ can. Take a Prozac and enjoy your day. If you have anything to say try to make it positive.

2014, the year of the "Legacy" recruits, is looking good.
Wharton, Creamer, Kelly... looking for Bates and the Berrys to keep the momentum building.
With some of these guys helping to recruit Jalen Hurd as well..., this class could really blow it up.
voloffaith writes:
Marty from,"Back to the Future" Mcfly I'm not. I'm not going to waste my time like you do going to another school's website. I'll take your word it is both. Still doesn't answer the question why you are on here as much as me and other VOL fans. Yes attended Bearden High school and Webb for 7th and 8th grade. Came back to public and it afforded me,by God's grace, an education that enabled me to graduate from the University of Tennessee!!! Since you tried a body slam i'm sorry you hurt your wrist when I squirmed away from your feeble attempt. 7T the purrfect kat to climb the tree out of fear of Smokey!!
rb4346 writes:
You have to admit that is funny, someone may have to explain it to Seven T though!
MooseandSquirrelVol writes:
But wait, that's not possible.
Joker was a UK guy.
NO WAY they fired him!
UK being so FAITHFUL to their coaches and all.
Say it ain't SO McFly!

Have you ever been to a game in Lexington, Commonwealth Stadium and 1/2 of the stands are filled with UT Fans and Kentucky gets whipped by about 25 points?
Those days are over now that Fulmer is gone.

So at last the truth comes out.
You're not a UK fan....Just another Fulmerite.

Now I know what most of your problems are, you were home schooled in Kaintucky because there are no public schools. You are knocking public schools in Tennessee while Kaintucky is still using chalk and slate boards. Have a wonderful day.

Maybe someone should remind you that Tennessee kicked U.K's sorry butts for almost 40 years straight. Yes, U.K. beat U.T. two years ago, but as the old Tom Petty song goes "Even a loser gets lucky sometimes" I'm not afraid to bet it will be another 40 years before U.K. beats Tennessee again. Don't feed the trolls. I know it's easy to stoop to their childish levels but all they want is a rise and people to comment to their trash. Being a troll is bad enough because it means you have no friends, no life, and definitely no girl. Let them continue to be miserable by themselves by not ever commenting on their garbage. Love everything that's going on so far under the watchful eye of CBJ. We have ourselves a REAL ball coach fellas and the future is looking bright! Greatness is coming back home to Rocky Top! Go Vols Go!

The only one I'm sure of was the kid that Dooley recruited who had stolen stuff while on a recruiting trip at UG. He was already on suspendsion when CBJ was hired.

Thanks. It is always a fair observation that those highly critical of KNS, its staff and their contributions should just abstain from reading. Acknowledging that premise, it is equally fair to expect a quality product; often, that is lacking. The KNS would maintain its right to be critical of UT sports programs..and often does. More often, it offers high school...or less...quality reports that are neither well researched, thought provoking or even newsworthy. It is fair, then, that its customers, we, the public hold them to the same expectations.
