Oliver Goss, playing in his third tournament as a Tennessee golfer, won the General Hackler Championship at TPC of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, S.C., on Tuesday.
Goss shot an even-par 72 in the final round to tie Taylor Pendrith of Arkansas for the lead with a three-round total of 1-under 215.
“It feels great to get my first collegiate win here at Tennessee,” Goss said in a school release.
“The key this week was my course management. I hit a lot of fairways thanks to my 2-iron, which was important because there can be trouble if you miss the fairway. I did not putt that great, but played solid all-around.”
The 29th-ranked Vols finished third at 16-over 880. No. 17 Arkansas and No. 23 Kent State tied for the team title with 873. Due to time constraints, playoffs were not played.
UT senior Jay Vandeventer finished fourth with a 1-over 217 for the best finish of his career.
UT freshman Thomas Dunne tied for 14th at 7-over 223.

How about a little more on the 2-iron? I can't seem to get anyone to believe they still have a function.
